ANNA SENIUK It is with heavy hearts that Bill, Steve, and Cathy announce the passing of our mom on June 30, 2017. Mom was born August 25, 1922 to Wasyl and Casi Winowicz in the village of Podhajcsyki, Lviv region, western Ukraine. At 15 she was married to our dad. At 16 she was on her way to Canada with Dad, his parents, brother, and sister-in-law, leaving behind her mom and dad and five siblings. They boarded the Canadian Pacific S.S. "Duchess of Atholl", landing in Quebec October 15, 1938. From there they journeyed to Hythe, AB, making this home. They experienced many hardships, through farming, adjusting to a new language and a new culture. The three of us were born, Bill and Steve in Grande Prairie, and Cathy in Hythe, AB. Our parents wanted nothing but a better life for us. In 1950 the family moved to Winnipeg. Mom found employment at the Winnipeg Cold Storage for many years. Her retirement was much more comfortable. We want to express our appreciation to Mom's neighbours for their friendship and assistance (especially Billy Chyka, Filman, Rory and family) who fondly referred to her as Baba. She was able to live in her home for a few more years after Dad's passing on March 15, 2003. She loved doing fine needle work, knitting afgans, and gardening. Her dementia brought changes and Mom moved in with her daughter and "Rudy". Thanks to the many home care workers, especially Sandi who treated her with compassion and friendship. She bonded with Stacey, her respite worker, who regarded her with such respect. Many occasions you would hear them belting out "Take me Home, Country Roads," or "Que Sera Sera." Mom was predeceased by her husband Bill and son-in-law Dave. She will be remembered by her children, Bill (Mary), Steve (Carol), and Cathy. She is survived by her grandchildren, John (Sue), Bill (Christy), Debbie (Larry), Kevin (Leanne) and David, great-grandchildren, Jenn, Matt, Brad, Jack, Megan, Mandy and Sarah, also "other daughter", Agnes, cousins, nephews and nieces. Thank you Mom for always being there. We love you dearly and are going to miss you with all our hearts. You worked so hard all your life. It is your time to rest. Til we sing "Goodnight Irene" again, goodnight Mom, we'll see you in our dreams. Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering is planned, along with a celebration to honour her life on July 30. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Vichnaya Pamyat
