I dated Fred in 1972 in Gimli MB where we both worked for Saunders Aircraft. The first time I had ever seen Fred he was kind of bounce walking through the hanger with these Huge flapping Ears! Asked, who the character in the ears. We had some pretty both crazy and good times! We reconnected about 6 yrs. ago. It was always nice to hear from him, I'm going to miss that! We called back and forth fairly often. He would always make me laugh! I recently returned home and had one final message from him, it was nice to just hear his voice. love ya Fred ( RIP Gone but not forgotten) - Posted by: Marlene Valgardson (Old Girlfriend) on: Jul 21, 2017

I met Fred in 1987 in Montreal, working for bell helicopter. The first time I met Fred, I came out of the washroom..he said to me " did you wash your hands"? He wanted to see my reaction.. Freddy smiled.,and so did I. We worked together for about a year.. And He lived with a few of us while we worked on a contract in Montreal. When we decided to move back to Vancouver he moved out to the west coast and settled in. Freddy spent time with our family through the years, at Christmas, and other gatherings. Fred was always up for a joke or two...we shared a many of laughs together. Fred would do anything for you if he could, he loved his home, and little treasures he collected through the years ...if you gave him a card he'd hang it up and remind you that he still had it, many years later. You'll be deeply missed my friend! I'll never forget your calls " hey sweetheart" Love you Freddy RIP - Posted by: Sheryl Andersen (Friend ) on: Jul 18, 2017

Dear Fred, We first met in Montreal back in the late 1970s and now that you are gone have no one to tell me a story in quite the same fashion. Here’s the first one from your “autobiography.” “I’d take up curling, but I’m not a very good skater." I heard these words while sitting in a bar in Gimli, Manitoba. The speaker was a woman I only knew as “Hot Lips.” In all the years I spent in this quaint little fishing village, that’s the only name she was ever called. If she had a given name it went the way of the carrier pigeon. She was sitting with an Icelandic fisherman, not an uncommon site in wintertime in a fishing village. Being cut off at the bar they crossed the street and got two bottles of cough medicine from Tergusen’s Drug Store and were enjoying both the hospitality and the warmth of the old white house. No coughing when they left. I won’t miss the drunken phone calls from you at 3 AM, but I’m going to miss everything else about you. My sincere condolences to your family.
