KEITH DOUGLAS DEANS Keith Douglas Deans passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 8, 2017 at the Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg. Keith was born in Oxbow, SK on May 31, 1922 and grew up in various communities across Saskatchewan and Manitoba. He spent his high school years in Morden where he met his soulmate, Isabel Menzies. As soon as Keith was eligible, he volunteered to serve with the R.C.A.F. He was seconded to the R.A.F. where he spent many months interred in a prisoner of war camp in Germany, which had a strong impact on the balance of his life. After the war and his repatriation to Canada, he married Isabel in 1946. They subsequently moved to Dauphin where he was employed for 33 years with the provincial government, the last 20 as superintendent of the Dauphin Correctional Institute. They enjoyed their years there, both in town and at Dauphin Beach, and made many long standing friendships. Keith gave of his time to many local charities including Dauphin First United Church, the Lions Club, the Rotary Club, Dauphin Country Club, as well as the Dauphin Air Cadets. Upon Keith's retirement he and Isabel spent 23 winters in Mesa, Arizona, enjoying the sunshine and friendship it provided. They subsequently moved to Winnipeg, eventually finding a place at Dakota House soon after it opened where Keith remained until December 2016. Keith was predeceased by Isabel in 2012. He is survived by his son, Doug (Lorrie) and grandchildren Greg and Heather; his daughter Marilyn Lamoureux (Ron), granddaughter Lise (Jean-Guy) and great-grandchildren, Alexander and Anastasia. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Merle Marowitch and Jean Deans, as well as many nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Lodge 7E at Deer Lodge Centre for treating Dad with care, dignity and respect. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to: Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3 or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
