Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH RAYMOND (RAY) FRANCIS MORAN March 2, 1931 - November 15, 2016 It is with sadness, but fond memories, that we announce that Joseph Raymond Francis Moran passed away on November 15, 2016 at the age of 85 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. He is survived by his children, Cindy and Kelly and two grandchildren of BC; his three sisters, Verona Kowalchuk, Patricia MacGillvary and Barbara Rance, and their families; dear friends Cindy and Murray Sookermany, Jessica Sookermany, and Tiana and Keenan Biden; and his beloved cat, Jinxy. He was predeceased by parents, Alfred and Louise Moran, his wife, Barbara Grey, and eldest son, Rodney. Ray was born and raised in Winnipeg. He attended St. Paul's High School, where he met his wife, Barbara at a school dance. After graduation, Ray was employed at CN, but shortly after, he enlisted in the Canadian Army and was shipped overseas to serve in the Special Forces in Korea. In 1958, Sergeant Moran was Honourably Discharged after attaining The Korea Medal, The UN Service Medal, Unit Citation and Para Insignia (Wings). Upon his return home, Ray studied hairdressing at Marvel, graduating at the top of his class and went on to open his own shop. Raymond was funny, generous, opinionated, cantankerous, a cat-lover, had a heart of gold and we loved him dearly. Cremation has taken place and Raymond will be laid to rest in the family plot on July 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Craig Street Cats, 1421 St. James St., Winnipeg, MB R3H 0Y9.
