HERBERT (HERBIE) DOBERSTEIN December 29, 1934 - July 3, 2017 Herbie Doberstein of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away on July 3, 2017 peacefully in his sleep at St Boniface General Hospital. Herbie is survived by his brother Arthur, sister Emma (Cecil), and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Olga, father Rudolf, brothers, Walter, Kurt and Leon, and sisters, Helena, Erika and Lydia. During the years, Herbie enjoyed going out to the bush East of Grahamdale, Manitoba to spend quality time and memories with many nephews and nieces whether via snowmobile or quad. He acquired the honoured name of "Meals on Wheels" because a person never knew what he would pull out of his backpacks or machine at any given time. He loved to hunt with buddies and nephews. The great outdoors was his spirit lifter in many ways. He was happiest when in the wilderness. He was a fantastic guitar and banjo player who enjoyed playing with and for others (all by ear). He had a great sense of humour that could make anyone smile and laugh. He was a patient, humble, loving, gentle, caring man who loved his pet "cat". Herbie worked at CN Rail from 1970 until his retirement in 1999, where he made some great friends such as Roland Fiola and Russ Kutzak. Interment will be held at a later date. Special thanks to the nurses, doctors and other staff members who made Uncle's last months better months. Herbie will forever be in our hearts and memories. Rest gently Uncle Herbie!! Until we meet again!!
