MARY SHEBESKI (nee BIALEK) Mary Shebeski passed away peacefully on July 15, 2017 with family by her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Tomas and Julia (Nowicki) Bialek; brothers, Albert and Casey Bialek; and sisters, Joyce (Tiny) Monkman and Ann Bialek. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and sister-in-law Jean. Mary was born on March 23, 1920 in Hazelridge, Manitoba where she attended her schooling. Once she completed high school, the Department of Education offered her a teaching post at Lee Lake which she accepted. She was later offered a position by the Sapton School Board where she taught Kindergarten to Grade 4 for three years. These were happy times for Mary as she was doing what she loved to do amongst people that she knew - friends and relatives. She later applied and was awarded a teaching position at Arborg where she taught Grades 4, 5 and 6. It was there that she met, and later in 1946, married Victor Shebeski. Mary taught for 13 years in Arborg and then was given a position at Gimli where she taught for 17 years until she retired in 1980. Mary enjoyed flowers, gardening art, sculpturing, painting, ceramics and never stopped being a teacher. She was a woman of faith and volunteered much time to St. Michael's Church in Gimli. While Gimli was where Mary's heart belonged, she resided a very short time in Stonewall and spent her final years in Kildonan Personal Care Centre on Henderson Highway in Winnipeg. The family would like to thank all the staff that cared for her over the past 17 years and ensured her last days and moments were handled with kindness and dignity. A private funeral service has taken place. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenedenmemorial.ca Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111
