ANNETTE WURTAK It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our loving mom, gran, great-gran, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. Marie Annette Gertrude Wurtak (nee Boucher) was born on November 7, 1947 in St. Ambroise, MB, and was greeted in Heaven by her late husband Stu and her late son Keith on July 16, 2017 at the age of 69. As a young girl, Annette moved with her family to rural towns, St. Lazare, MB and Calder, SK before settling in Winnipeg, where, as a teenager, she met the love of her life Stuart Wurtak. They were married on November 27, 1965 and began a family. Annette was born to be a mother; she stayed home to love her children fulltime. In the fall of 1975, Stuart and Annette moved their family of five to Ashern, MB and, shortly after, the family grew to seven with a surprise blessing of twins! The family had taken over the Wurtak farm that was pioneered by Stuart's grandparents. The farm is where the Wurtak' s called "home" until Stuart's passing which caused Annette to be forced from the place she loved into the bright lights of the city. After being a "Winnipegger" for a year, Annette decided to move to Edmonton, AB to be closer to some of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, however, her yearning to go back to Ashern never ceased. Over the years once her children were grown, Mom worked in various places such as the Ashern Day Care (because she loved children so much), the Lakeshore General Hospital (where she met so many of her good friends and where she would often come home with a potty mouth that Stuart called "hospital talk") and her favourite...The Goodwill (where she spent most of her pay cheque). Annette is predeceased by her parents, George and Alice Boucher (nee Ducharme), her husband Stuart and her son Keith, all of whom she is with peacefully now (and is pulling Dad's mustache for eternity). Leaving to mourn are her children, Lesley (Bob), Lark, Ken (Katie) and Krystal (Dwayne); daughter-in-law Carla; her grandchildren, Cailey (Brent), Braedy (Ashley), Sari (Chad), Catlin, Jacob (Pam), Jordin (Josh), Aiden, Melanie, Savanna, Elianna and James; her great-grandchildren, Carter, Callum, Camden, Preston, Lachlann and Emersyn; her siblings, Maria, Rose, Albert (Alice), Therese (Nelson), Ernest (Colleen), Roland (Claudette), Lorette and Wilna (Paul) along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Annette will be remembered for her contagious laugh and sense of humour, her sweet, kind and good heart, her caring, her hugs and her love of children. From all the thoughtful words of kindness the family has received it is obvious she has touched many people's hearts and lives throughout her years. Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ashern with a luncheon to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Ashern Legion Hall. A private interment will take place for close family and friends at Betel Churchyard Cemetery (Silver Bay). In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Addictions Foundation of Manitoba, 1031 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3G 0R8 or www.AFM.mb.ca in memory of Annette.
