MARTHA BETTY SUTTON
Born: Jun 06, 1950
Date of Passing: Jul 15, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTHA BETTY (ALICE) SUTTON In the comfort of her home, on July 15, 2017, Alice suddenly passed away at the age of 67. Alice was born on June 6, 1950 in Eriksdale, MB to Frank and Mary Sutton. Left to cherish her memory are her brother Larry (Lorraine), and sister Joyce (Brian), as well as many good friends. She was predeceased by her father in 2007 and her mother in 2014. Anyone that knew Alice was aware of her extraordinary work ethics. This was a trait that was instilled at a very young age. While growing up on the family farm in the Tennyson District, she was responsible for milking cows, haying, gardening and everyday farming tasks. She stayed with her parents on the family farm until she started working at CIBC Ashern in 1970 where she was employed for 20 years. During that time she met several good friends who shared her love of horses, although Arabians topped her list. She rode in the Ashern Horse Drill, participated in the local 4-H Horse Club as well as the Ashern Horse Club. She loved riding in the barrels and poles events at surrounding horse shows and took a lot of pride in winning over 100 trophies and plaques throughout the years. She then went on to work for Ron and Joan Geisler in their PMU barn caring for the horses and tending to the paperwork for 13 years until the industry downsized. She continued working on their farm doing various farm chores until she was no longer able. Alice spent a few years in Eriksdale caring for her mother until her passing in 2014, which then brought her back to Ashern for her remaining years. Alice then had time to tend to her garden and flower beds that she thoroughly enjoyed. Alice was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to country music, especially the Polka Party on Saturday night. If you glanced through her calendar you would see birthdays and anniversaries recorded for those close to her. She faithfully sent out cards as well as corresponded with pen pals with handwritten letters. She was a kind and devoted daughter, sister, employee, volunteer and friend as she put her heart into everything she did and always pitched in to get things done. Like many people, Alice had her share of highs and lows in life. In later years, as she became more dependent on others, she also started relying on her friend "Seagrams". She truly appreciated everything that her family and friends did for her, even though it wasn't always acknowledged. A heartfelt "Thank You" to the people who were there for Alice throughout her journey in life. May you ride like the wind! Rest in Peace, Alice. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Eriksdale Recreation Centre with Jody Forsyth-Oversby officiating. Interment to follow in the Eriksdale Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Deb Falk, Margaret Dunn, Kassandra Makinson, Marlene Michno, Larry Sutton and Herman Henkel. Honorary pallbearers are her family and friends near and far. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
