EDWARD HENRY ZEKE
Born: Apr 06, 1933
Date of Passing: Jul 19, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD HENRY (TED) ZEKE Peacefully, at his residence in Lundar, MB, on July 19, 2017, Ted Zeke passed away at the age of 84 years. Ted was born east of Oak Point, MB on April 6, 1933 and grew up in the area. He received his education at Gascon School. As young man, he started working with his dad farming on the family homestead. In the early 1950s, Ted operated heavy duty equipment on road construction. He met Suzanne Coutu in 1957 and they were married in 1958. This marriage was blessed with five children - four boys and a girl. Ted was a commercial fisherman on Lake Manitoba for over 50 years. This became a family operation which he was very proud of. He enjoyed working with his boys Jim, Randy, Rick and Mitch, along with his hired men Donald Burdett and Rick Byron. In the 1970s, Ted also did some carpentry all over Manitoba. In his retirement years, he always enjoyed being around the farm, especially the cattle operation with his family. When he was younger, he was fond of hockey and baseball, in fact, he was a baseball umpire. Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling throughout the country that also took them into the United States. They attended many country music concerts together and loved to go berry picking, cruising the backroads and going to auction sales. Two years ago, they moved from the farm and settled into town in Lundar. Family gatherings were always a highlight for him. Both Mom and Dad were very proud of the five children they raised. Their grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of their lives. Ted is survived by his wife Suzanne, of 59 years; son Jim (Sherry); daughter Bonnie; sons Rick (Carrie) and Mitch; five grandchildren Craig, Chasity, Tiffany, Lisa and Curtis; 10 great-grandchildren (Ann-Marie being his #1 great-granddaughter); a sister Doris (Blair) Harper; his favourite nephew Craig Jeffery; cousins Valerie MacAllister and Candace Carpenter who were like immediate family to Ted, along with other nieces and nephews, and other family members. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Doris, two sisters Muriel (Lindy) Jeffery and Iris (Allan) Chartrand, along with his son Randy. In keeping with Ted's wishes, cremation has taken place and a family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. Our family wishes to thank the home care worker who came to help us in our time of need, the EMS team, Lundar R.C.M.P., Dr. Soliman and Arnason Funeral Home.
