Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARITA MARY SILVER We celebrate the life of Marg Silver, who was born June 12, 1923 in Russia and passed away July 20, 2017 in Stratford, Ontario, following a wonderful life of 94 years. Daughter of the late Jacob and Maria Hoemsen (nee Heidebrecht), she is survived by brother Hugo, and sister Betty. Predeceased by sister Kay, and brothers Peter and Verner. Mother to Kevin (Jane Homan), Joan, Robert (Jane Buss) and Mark (Julie Cammissa). Grandmother to Shane, Colleen, Ginette, Dominic, Oriah, Philip, Judy and Courtney. Great-grandmother (Oma) to Kailin, Lexie, Cassie, Ethan, Dillon, Amy, Vanessa, Caitlin and Abigail. Great-great-grandmother to Charlotte. Marg grew up in Griswold, west of Winnipeg, received her RN degree from Brandon Mental Hospital, and during her 50 year career garnered many nursing accolades and awards. She retired as Director of Psychiatric Nursing, Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre in 1990. Marg spent the last 20 years of her life in Stratford, where she was able to indulge in her love of theatre, and her never ending thirst for knowledge. She participated in interesting groups, made new friends, continued her passion of non-stop reading and, most importantly to her, was close to family, and thrilled in seeing the next generation grow and develop. They kept her vibrant and full of life! She was also able to devote time to chronicling her family's history. We thank Dr. Laurel Moore and the nursing staff at Stratford General Hospital for their kindness in Marg's final days. Visitation to take place at the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert St., Stratford, Ontario on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until the celebration of Marg's life at 3:00 p.m. Donations, in lieu of flowers, to Stratford Perth Hospice or Doctors Without Borders may be made by calling the funeral home at 519-271-5062 or online at www.jarfh.com

Marg was a wonderful and vibrant person. Although it's been years since I've seen her, I have fond memories of how special she was. She was always caring and genuinely interested in others. I am happy that she lived a long, full life and was loved by her children. She was a dear lady! - Posted by: Dianne (Silver) Schooler (niece) on: Jul 23, 2017
