PAMELA DAWN HICKEY November 6, 1963 - July 20, 2017 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, sister, aunt and great-aunt Pam. After a courageous battle with Cancer she died peacefully, with family by her side. Left to cherish her memories are her children Jillian, Alysha and Sam; siblings Sharon (Bob) Sargent, Walter (Linda) Hickey, Donna (Terry) Knight, Bev (Dave) Howell, Patrick (Lisa) Hickey, and half-sister Elle York. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Pam grew up in Elmwood, attending Kent Road School, Elmwood High School, and later Red River College. She had many friends growing up who she remained friends with over the years She had various career paths but her passion was photography. As she raised her children she provided daycare to many children in the area who remembered her fondly. In 1992, she met Ray residing in West St. Paul where they had three beautiful, talented children, Jillian, Alysha and Sam who are the light of her life. She made many good friends on Minnehaha, hosting many neighbourhood events which always involved her children. Pam had a great love for animals, always having cats, dogs, birds and chinchillas (ashes) in the house. A special thanks to Ray for all his support and help for Pam, their children, and our family. We will miss you Mom with all of our hearts and we will cherish our memories forever. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day St., Winnipeg. The family thanks Health Sciences Centre and CancerCare. I was very sorry to hear of Pam's passing. I grew up in Elmwood, next door to the Hickey's. They were like family. I remember one story that sticks out in my mind about Pam. Although Pam was younger than me, at times we would hang out. After one of our winter storms, Pam decided she wanted to build a fort in our front yard. We did and Pam wanted it to be the best on the street. It seemed to take forever to build and it was really cold out. There was no going inside, Pam wanted to finish. So we did and it was the best one on the street. Pam at an early age showed determination, leadership and creativity. Although I lost touch with Pam after my move to BC, my niece, Shelley brought me up to date on the Hickey's. It was her that told me about Pam. I want to express my deep condolences to all of the Hickey family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. Heaven has just welcomed another angel. I am sure she will be with her loving mother, Vi and loving father, John. Love Mugs xxoo - Posted by: Margaret Petersen, nee : Douglas (Friend, neighbour) on: Jul 27, 2017
