THOMAS (BRUCE) TOPHAM April 17, 1936 - July 21, 2017 Peacefully on July 21, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer, Bruce Topham passed away at Riverview Health Centre with Eleanor, his loving wife of 60 years, at his side. Bruce was born in Winnipeg on April 17, 1936, the oldest of five children. At the age of 16, Bruce started work at Frank Cruise, and later worked at the Hudson's Bay Company, before starting to work with General Foods, where he would remain until his retirement. Bruce was an avid sportsman, and loved fishing, camping, hunting, and spending time with Eleanor and friends at their trailer. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and spending time in the basement building airplanes and beautiful birdhouses. Bruce will be deeply missed by his wife Eleanor (nee Rentz), brother Allan (Val), stepsister Elaine (Harvey), and stepsister-in-law Liz. He was predeceased by his father Harry, mother Evelyn (nee Love), stepfather John Scheafer, brother Leslie, and stepbrother Allan Scheafer. Many thanks go out to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre for their outstanding care. A memorial service will be held at Grey Street United Church, 651 Sandhurst Ave. at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grey Street United Church or the 3 East Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 2P4.
