  • I was shocked and saddened to hear this very sad news. I made many trips with Ben while working on the CN mainline out of my hometown of Biggar. He was an awesome "rail" - always telling good stories and providing lotsa laughs. Among his many talents, Ben made excellent "cowboy" coffee. Sandra and I send our sympathy, thoughts and prayers to the Foreman family. RIP Brother Ben... - Posted by: Guy Wapple (Former co-worker) on: Jul 31, 2017

  • Condolences to Ben's family on his passing. I knew Ben when we both worked for CN Rail out of the Northern Manitoba CN terminal of Gillam. We worked many times together but I remember one trip with him as Conductor in particular. Late one night in the fall we left Churchill with grain empties. This was the first year of cabooseless trains and we were nearing the location where the conductor was to drop off and roll by the train to inspect for problems. Out of the darkness we thought we saw three caribou ahead of us. As we got closer, we saw it was a mother polar bear with two cubs. I looked over at Ben and said "I don't imagine you want to go stand out on the tundra with the bears and inspect out train do you?". For those who knew Ben, you can imagine his colourful response. We decided it was safer for Ben to stay on the engine for that inspection. Rest in peace brother Ben. - Posted by: Rob Westhouse (Co-Worker at CN Rail) on: Jul 29, 2017

  • To all of Ben's family I send my deepest sympathy. I remember all the great times we had during the family summer vacations in Minaki. My mother's nickname for him was cowboy when he was young and it suited him. He always had us all laughing and was the leader of the pack during the many adventures in our younger years.
