Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS FREDERICK COOPER (COOP) March 15, 1939 - July 19, 2017 Peacefully, at his residence in Selkirk, Tom passed away at the age of 78 years. Tom was predeceased by his parents, and younger brother Herb. He is survived by his longtime friend Val Duke, as well as numerous other friends. Tom graduated from St. James Collegiate where he was the athlete of the year in both grades 11 and 12. He then entered into the Agriculture faculty at the University of Manitoba. His first job was as a salesman for Heinz. He then sold medical equipment and later on he started his own business selling personal grooming and medical supplies to nursing homes and labs. Tom was an avid sportsman in his younger and middle years. He was on Hersh Lerner's championship curling team and was an expert skier, golfer, hockey player and basketball player. His claim to fame was that he caddied for George Knudsen on several occasions. Tom bred St. Bernard dogs for at least 20 years and was very particular about grooming them before a dog show, and as a result his dogs usually won the breed competition and often placed in group. His last dog, Atlas II (Thozie) won several best in show trophies. Those dogs were the love of his life. Special thanks to all doctors, nurses and homecare providers who cared for Tom. A memorial service will be held at Faith Temple, 968 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg on Friday (today), July 28 at 7:00 p.m. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brook, Dylan, Jess and Reg Luining, Andy Duke and Rudy Fidel. Good Bye Dear Friend! You will be missed by all of us. Interlake Cremation & Memorial Services (Selkirk) in care of arrangements. 204-482-1040
