Mike came to Canada in 1976, met and married Gail in Winnipeg, and in 1991 they moved to a hobby farm near Riding Mountain National Park. In 2014, they retired to "city life" in Powell River, BC. Mike was an agronomist and worked for several grain companies until setting up his own agricultural consulting company in 1994. Mike was a keen hunter and skeet shooter. He was a well known competitor and official, achieving his goal of beng an Olympic Judge: he officiated at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000. He taught hunter safety and firearms safety courses for over 20 years, and mentored many young people through junior hunting and skeet shooting. In three short years in Powell River, Mike served as president of the Powell River Rod and Gun Club, and continued to teach firearms safety courses and coach junior shooters. Mike is survived by Gail, his life partner for 39 years, daughters, Sandra, Carol, Caroline and Anne, grandchildren, Hayley, David, Samantha and Mia, and sister Fiona.
