EARLE CLYDE DICKINSON March 19, 1946 - July 28, 2017 Pops passed away quietly, in his sleep, after a brief struggle with cancer. He was a bright star with a quick smile and a guy who could tell a story. Earle was an avid curler and was part of many different curling clubs. He held various positions throughout the years including President of the Thistle Curling Club in Winnipeg and icemaker at the Campbell River Curling Club. He loved shooting pool with friends and his teammates, the Campbell River Pool Techs will miss him dearly. In his younger years Earle was a zealous skydiver, performing at different air shows throughout Manitoba and had over 300 jumps. Pops leaves behind his two sons Jason (Lana) and Jerret (Karen); grandkids Jon, Kailey, Isabella, Samuel and Elliot; older brother Barry; many cousins, loved ones and special friends spread out from Manitoba to Campbell River. He was loved by all. Thank you to the homecare team and Comox Valley Hospice staff for all the support. A service will be held on August 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roland United Church in Roland, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Comox Valley Hospice Society.

  • Sorry for the loss of your Dad Jason, Jerret and families. Had some great times with Earle/Clyde back in the good old days with my buddies in Roland. Often hung out at Frank's Bar with him or him and Frank would come visit my friends and I in Roland as we lived across the street from Frank. We'd often get to go for a cruise with him in the yellow convertible and had lots of fun and laughs. He was a great guy. Had lost touch with Earle and hadn't seen him in a lot of years, but won't forget the fun and shenanigans that were had. Sending my deepest condolences and may you find peace in the memories of your Dad. - Posted by: Val (McMahon) Milette (Friend) on: Aug 15, 2017

  • So sorry to hear Jason & Jerret. So many memories, back in 1979-1980 I actually moved in with your family. Lived in the basement. Or all the years of hanging out at the Smith household, as our families definitely spent time together. Your Dad was a fantastic person, always a smile and pleasure to be around. Cherish his memory! - Posted by: Gaylene Loutchan (Bill and Nettie Smith's daughter) (Long time Family acquaintance) on: Aug 09, 2017

  • My deepest sympathy Jason on the loss of your Dad. I remember Earle the Squirrel very well for his caring ways and crazy antics. Hard to believe 24 years ago, we were all grieving this very week. I bet those 2 crazy buggers are shooting a rack and sharing a beer! Hold your memories tight as they will buffer the pain in the coming weeks and months. xo Kerry and Georgina - Posted by: Kerry Terwin-Fehr (friend) on: Aug 02, 2017

  • I knew Earle from my days at working in the pro shop at Tuxedo Golf Course. He was always friendly and smiling and could always make me laugh. I have not seen him in many years but, I recognize him like it was yesterday. My condolences to you and your family on behalf of myself and my family. Heaven has gained an angel and he is in a better place now free from suffering. - Posted by: Cynthia Whitfield-Laurent (Friend) on: Aug 01, 2017
