Born: Nov 13, 1939
Date of Passing: Jul 30, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL EMMETT (EM) MCMULLAN November 13, 1939 - July 30, 2017 It is with great sadness we announce Emmett's sudden passing on Sunday, July 30, 2017. Emmett was born and raised in Montreal, QC, and remained there until 1979 when he and his family moved to Winnipeg. Emmett is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jocelyn; daughter, Erin; and son, Michael (Kerri). He is survived by his sister Dolores (Bill) and brother Brian in Montreal, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Mildred Ann (Millie), his brother Jack, sister Anne, and his parents. He attended Loyola High School in Montreal where he met and stayed in touch with many fabulous friends. Emmett was an incredible father. Giving, kind, loving, selfless, and a sense of humour that was second to none. He was always there for his children, whether it was with an open ear, kind words of advice, or just a hug in hard times. He had a welcoming smile for everyone he ever met and will be missed by all. He was a dedicated volunteer at the outpatient knee clinic at Victoria General Hospital where he was never without his trusty sidekick Seamus. All who came into contact with either Emmett or Seamus were forever changed for the better. I will forever cherish all the good times I was allowed to share with the man I loved so much before he was so suddenly taken from us all. The many great driving trips we took across Canada together to visit with family, his love for life, nature, family and of course his little partner Seamus. Our well-laid plans for our future years together are strangely gone, and so is my Emsie. Oh, how our lives can forever change in a matter of minutes! I will dearly miss his daily presence in my life. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Mary, Mother of the Church Parrish, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba. We would like to thank the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, EMTs, and the trauma team at the Victoria General Hospital for their tireless efforts put forward for Emmett. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation. As Emmett would say, "Love, trust, and pixie dust".

My sincere sympathy to Emmett's family, relatives, friends and Seamus. I met Emmett 4 years ago while doing phsyio for a knee and hip replacement. Emmett was a joy to interact with. We both loved our dogs and we'd spend most of our time talking about dogs. The knee classes will never be the same without him. A great loss of such a caring and kind man. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel. Fly high with your new wings Emmett. - Posted by: Carole Baldwin (Knee replacement patient) on: Aug 09, 2017

Deepest condolences to all of Emmett's family for your great loss. Emmett was a wonderful person, kind, loving, generous. Though I have not been in contact with him for years, I was a client of his briefly, many many years ago, and subsequently remained in contact for several years, enjoying many spirited conversations over the phone, coffee, lunch. I will always remember him with great fondness, and am blessed to have had his influence in my life. You are in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Jane Dick (Client and friend) on: Aug 08, 2017

Emmet and we were neighbors for many years (we had moved here since 1973). We would watch him walking his little dog at least three times hail, rain or shine everyday always waving a cheerful hand of greeting at us as he passed us (and very often his cat also follow him though not held in a leash). Even on the morning of his passing we watched him walking his dog, We will miss this heart-warming sight that signalled to us it was alright with the world. Our heartfelt condolences to his family. He was a person who exuded love by his presence. We both will him miss him very much. - Posted by: Rangachari & Vydehi VENKATARAMAN (Friend and neighbor) on: Aug 06, 2017

I was saddened by the news of Emmett's passing! He was so full of life. I offer many hugs and thoughts to his family and coworkers at the VIc Physio! I was there for an extended period of rehabilitation and always enjoyed his company. He will leave a huge vacancy to the program. I will always remember Shamus, how loving!and the flowers 🌺 he brought in from his garden, especially the gladiolus. The world will surely be unbalanced without Emmett. I excercised this morning with extra vigor and fond thoughts of Emmett 's kindness and big heart! My thoughts are with the family at this time.❤️ - Posted by: Sheilagh antoniuk () on: Aug 06, 2017

Emmett was a school mate at Loyola and we worked similar Summer jobs together. Emmett was a wonderful cheerful, caring, funny individual, who had a wonderful sense of humour. When I was whining to Emm earlier this year about having severed a quadriceps tendon he promptly sent me a picture of himself with a cast on each leg as the result of having done the same thing to himself several years ago. He also was a was very helpful with hints and suggestions about recovery, which have been most helpful. I will remember Emmett in my prayers and would like to offer my sincere sympathy to Mike, Erin and Jocelyn. The world has lost a great person RIP Basil Cuddihy , Calgary - Posted by: Basil Cuddihy (Old friend) on: Aug 05, 2017

When we worked toget her at St. B. He would strangely appear in my office every morning and we would have coffee and a smoke. I always said he never quit smoking, just buying. I have been wondering why I wasn't receiving any jokes from him lately. - Posted by: Doug Machan (Friend & Coworker) on: Aug 05, 2017

Sadly we have only known Emmett for a short time, he was always very friendly to talk with and a good neighbor. We would see him walking Seamus multiple times a day around the bay and he would always have a friendly smile and wave. Please accept our deepest condolences, he is going to be greatly missed. - Posted by: Jeff, Rachel & Ashley (Neighbors) on: Aug 04, 2017

Mike and Erin, I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your Dad had the privilege of enjoying life right to his last day. Perhaps that blessing might be of some comfort in this time of mourning. Take care and we keep you in our prayers. Serge and Patricia - Posted by: Serge Carrière (Mike's friend) on: Aug 04, 2017

Jocelyn, My deepest condolences on your sudden and violent loss. Emmett was truly a pillar of this neighbourhood, and he will be missed greatly. Both of my sons enjoyed seeing him out and about all the time with Seamus and Casey in tow. I have wanted to come over and express my sympathy in person, however I'm still struggling with the loss of my own father earlier this year, and the last thing you need to deal with right now is my grief on top of your own. All I can say is that with every passing day, the sense of loss becomes just a little easier to deal with. We'll be unable to make it out to his mass services, as we will be out of the province all of next week. Please don't hesitate to let us know should you need anything in the weeks to come.
