GEORGE ALBERT DESJARLAIS Peacefully on August 3, 2017, George Desjarlais passed away at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB. His wife Sandra of 47 years and three children, Amanda (Donald Jr.) Halldorson, Cynthia (Jim) Bricklin and son Jorge are filled with sorrow. George loved his boys, Colin, Quentin, Phoenix Kevin, Corbin, Joey, Conway and Hunter, and his step-grandchildren, Jeffery (Logan) and Jennifer (Emily, Caleb). He is survived by four sisters, Esther Berriman, Shirley Lowery, Constance (Brian) Connelly and Ann (Robert) Harris, his sister-in-laws, Thelma (Ronald), Justina (Gerald) and Alice (Jack). He was predeceased by grandson Vance Desjarlais and parents, Gene and Eva. George grew up at the Quarry, just north of Oak Point where he attended Gascon School. He worked in construction as a packer for Ramsey Bird, butcher at Best Brand Meats for 21 years and cabinet maker for Cabinet Clearance Center for seven. At age 55 George fell ill, and for 17 years fought many different health battles but never quit or stop loving life. George did lots of curling, hunting, commercial fishing, gardening and golfing. This quiet, gentle man enjoyed being among family and friends for a good party. In the fall of 1981, George was one of four who started the Annual Quarry Chicken Shoot which went on for 32 years. He enjoyed singing, being with the boys, training his dogs and working hard at projects like working on the yard on the Desjarlais homestead. George's heart was always at the Quarry but took 21 years to raise his family in St. Boniface, and returning to the farm in 1997 to semi retire. George was a man of few words but he certainly knew how to get his point across or really make you laugh. Sundays was time for worship and he faithfully attended Mass. George was also blessed to have grown up with being part of the Oscar and Therese Lamoureux family which he loved dearly. For 17 years George's social life consisted of so many caring people in the health care teams from St. Boniface Peritoneal Clinic, Health Sciences Centre and Transplant Clinic, Seven Oaks Hemodialysis, Home Hemo Clinic and Eriksdale Hospital. To all of you we respect and appreciate the care you give and ask for blessings for you and your families. Thank you. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. Prayers will be said at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the St. Laurent Roman Catholic Church with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Paul Tinguely officiating. Service will conclude at the church with a cremation to follow. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight - I have finished my course - I have kept the faith. • Uncle George I want to Thank you for all the GREAT times, Since I was a child you were my idol, singing to me as a baby, always doing something to make us laugh. You were always there for me, even let me move in with you and Aunty Sandra when I was 16 and you hardly had room for yourselves. You were more of a Father than an uncle to me but then again you were even much more than that, Brother, Best Friend. I also want to Thank Aunty Sandra for loving you as she has. Love you forever Uncle, Larry - Posted by: Larry Desjarlais (Nephew) on: Aug 08, 2017
