KATIE EVELYN FRIESEN July 5, 1943 - July 29, 2017 It is with deep sorrow that the family of Katie Friesen announces her death at the age of 74. Katie was born in Winnipeg and resided there her entire life. Katie worked at Manitoba Medical Service for 45 years until her retirement. Katie was a hardworking, kind and gentle soul who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Katie was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Anna Friesen, and by her brother, John Walter Friesen. She leaves to mourn her brother Peter (Erna) Friesen, Helen Ruth Penner, sister-in-law Helen Friesen, brother Abe (Gloria) Friesen, sister Marion (John) Neufeld, brother Richard (Lynn) Friesen, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Katie had a great love for her family, friends, country music and Christian Gospel music. Katie was the life of every party and lived up to her motto, Live, Love, Laugh. We are grieving today but take comfort that she passed away, without suffering, peacefully in her sleep. "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance." A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at McIvor Church, 200 McIvor Ave. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favourite charity.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I remember Katie would travel with my Aunt Elfrieda, often coming to visit our family in various locations. It was always so fun to visit with her and I know she will be sorely missed by her family and friends. - Posted by: Gaylene Horch (Friend) on: Aug 24, 2017

  • So very saddened by the passing of this lovely soul. My memories of Katie are mostly from work, and what I recall is her hard work and dedication to any task assigned to her. She was diligent in her performances, and her zest for life spilled into the work environment. Her laugh was contagious and you smiled every time you heard it. Katie loved to shop and often returned to work after a "mini vacation" , always with a story and a roar of laughter from events that took place. So saddened by this loss, but at peace that Katie went in her sleep. - Posted by: Debbie Slobogian-Jones (past co-worker) on: Aug 08, 2017

  • We were shocked and and saddened by the news of Katies death. We remember her as a dear friend who always brought life, love and laughter into every relationship. A spirit of joy and her enthusiasm for life is what we remember most about our time with her. Were so glad that she is safely home with the Lord. Be assured of our prayers for your peace and comfort at this difficult time. - Posted by: Bob and Donna Neufeld (friends) on: Aug 07, 2017

  • Katie and I had a friendship that lasted 56 years. We did a lot of travelling together during the 70's and 80's which has given me a lot of memories. She will always be with me in spirit. My condolences go out to the Friesen family. May she rest in peace. Love Elfrieda Warkentin - Posted by: Elfrieda (Horch) Warkentin (Friend) on: Aug 07, 2017
