TERESA MONTEBRUNO (nee MELIZZA) Peacefully, surrounded by people she loved, Teresa Montebruno passed away August 2, 2017 at age 74, at the St. Boniface Hospital. Teresa will be forever treasured by the love of her life, husband of almost 57 years, Luigi; her daughters, Rosana and Lora; sons-in-law, Tim and Correy; and her very precious grandchildren, Liam, Camryn, Isabella and Erin; as well as her nephew Donato Montebruno, who was like a son to her, and his family. Her furry friends, Dakota and Lego, will also miss her. She leaves many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives both in Canada and Italy. Teresa was born in Mozzagrogna, Chieti, Italy on August 11, 1942. She met Luigi when she was only days old, when his family came to visit the new baby. She often spoke of waiting by "la fontanella" in hopes of seeing him walk by. Shortly before her 17th birthday she moved to Winnipeg to live with family. Luigi followed shortly after and they were married on November 12, 1960. Together they worked hard to provide the best life possible for their family. In the summer, weekends were spent either at Grand or Winnipeg Beach with family and friends, while winter weekends were spent in someone's basement for dinner, dancing and cards. Sunday lunches were a constant in her life. Teresa made several trips back to Italy making sure that her children and grandchildren could get to know and love family there the way she did. Her last trip to Italy, seven years ago, was extra special because the whole family was there, including all her grandchildren. Mom and Dad enjoyed their retirement years travelling and made many friends along the way. Teresa was diagnosed with multiple myeloma four years ago. She fought it with dignity and strength despite many setbacks. There were many wonderful people that helped our family on this journey. A heartfelt thank you for the exceptional care and guidance provided by nurse Brittany at CancerCare and more recently the Seven Oaks Oncology staff: Dr. Fatoye, nurse Marilena, nurse Caris, Steven and Caroline. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, with Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Condolences will begin at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, located at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Reception to follow. Pallbearers will be Liam Myco, Donato Montebruno, Davide Montebruno, John Montebruno, Nick Ranieri and Joe Ranieri. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba or Canadian Blood Services. If you are able, please consider donating blood. Many blood transfusions extended both Teresa's time with us and improved her quality of life. E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald Street 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com
