MARY JEAN MONIUK With heavy hearts, the family of Mary Jean Moniuk (nee Baker) announce her sudden passing at Grace General Hospital on August 8, 2017. Jean was predeceased by her husband, John. She is survived by her children, Shirley (Ken) Neyedly, Larry (Susan) Moniuk and Rob (Anne) Moniuk; her grandchildren, Kathy McNeill, Brad McNeill, Wendy Moniuk, Victor Moniuk, Carly Owen and Maddison Owen; brother Don Baker; and sister Margaret Sangster. She will be fondly remembered and missed by numerous nieces, nephews, their children and children of close friends. She led a full life including: packing parachutes during the war, nursing in remote communities (where she met her husband), raising a family, and several jobs including church secretary, retail at a hobby store, and administration for Gordon Hotels. She did not slow down after retirement and continued to fill her time volunteering for the church, sewing, walking, and some world travel. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the choir at St. Andrew's Church as well as the choir at the Westhaven. Service is planned for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 14 at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue at Woodhaven. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean's memory to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
