ALBERT EDWARD BOYD On Saturday, August 12, 2017, Albert Edward Boyd passed away after a battle with Alzheimer's Disease, at the age of 92 years. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 17, 1924. Remaining to forever cherish Albert's memory are his daughters, Susan (Ken) and Kimm (Lance); grandchildren, Shaun (Angie), Jennifer (Dean) and Alyson (Chris); and great-grandchildren, Emily, Alyssa, Nick and Ben. He also leaves his brother Gerald (Yvonne) along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife Doreen, in 2013. Listing Dad's resume would not do him justice. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He was part of the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War and played the clarinet in the Air Force band, a love that he shared with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He later went on to be a sales rep in the pharmaceutical industry, where he travelled extensively throughout Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. Dad loved learning and being part of health care and thus took extraordinary care of himself. He walked miles every day until he was confined with his illness. During his 40-plus years in sales, he took his fashion cues from the local haberdasheries and prided himself on being a "snappy dresser". Dad had many hobbies, he was an artist who enjoyed painting throughout his life and well into his 80s; he played the clarinet with several orchestras and it was a true passion for him; he enjoyed making and repairing golf clubs and was an avid weekend warrior on the local golf courses. Lastly, he delighted in and was a wonderful grandad and great-grandad, often referred to as the "Silly Grandad". He loved children and never tired of playing board games; making silly faces; attending school concerts and any number of sporting events and of course, taking pictures. In compliance with Dad's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. Special thank you for the wonderful care Dad received from the 3rd floor staff at Calvary Place Personal Care Home.
