Poem for funeral Wed. ‘’Dear Mrs.Lee’’ Dear Mrs.Lee, You meant lots to me- To my family, my friends, You were often a key- In fun times, in a game, at the library lake, You were here, you were there Of that make no mistake! At the lake, you did love Your sunhat and your chair- Read a book-that’s so nice- So nice- Not a care! Yet care, yes you did- Often asking ‘How?- Were we doing? ‘’ and ‘’What does this Word mean?’’ And by well you meant- Reading, and studying- Keeping our little brains keen. For unto our heads, you know we would thrive A year spent in France, A break, A change, you would dive Into a wave, out on a limb- One thing’s for sure, You knew how to live. So, I, some like you, Went on to teach French- Not with your latin Myself- just the French. To my mother and father- You’ve been a great friend Since the day, Tiny Garfield came home From from the bay (hospital, that is) Time flew by, I was not there. Feel so bad ‘’Best she had’’. But knowing God only knows our paths by the sea Makes it easier for me To know what it was- What will be. For as I look back On those years gone so fast- Down the lane to see Kathy, Quick; make the time last- We’ll all miss you so swell And we know you’ll do well Way up there in heaven- Here’s Archie, here’s Mary-Louise,Grama Gohl And here’s Tom (that’s daddy to me) So play on , grand piano Play on loud can be, Farewell dear old neighbour, Farewell Mrs.Lee.
