IRVIN RUVINSKY 1922 - 2017 With deep sadness, the family of Irvin Ruvinsky announces his passing on July 20, 2017, aged 95, in Vancouver, BC. Irvin was a very special man - quiet, witty, courageous and wise. He adored his wife Becky (Rebecca Rosenberg), above all else, and they were devoted to each other for 63 years. Irvin kept his independent spirit to the very end. He believed in working hard and finding joy in every single day. Irvin had a beautiful tenor voice and would break into song at any moment, delighting his family. He had an artist's eye, a talent for designing, building and gardening, and a love of reading and debate. Irvin spent over 38 years working for Air Canada in Winnipeg and Montreal. With his family, he travelled widely across Canada, the United States, Europe and Israel. Irvin and Becky retired early to golf, cycle, and entertain at their lovely condos in Palm Springs and Richmond. Irvin lovingly cared for Becky every day during the 10 years she spent in a nursing home. After Becky passed away, Irvin lived independently in their Richmond condo, warmed by the love and attention of his family, who adored him. Irvin will be greatly missed by his cherished daughters: Terri (Jack) Mandel, Gayl (Jay) Sarbit, Karen (Harley) Glesby, and Ilene Ruvinsky (Jeffrey Ross); his nine grandchildren: Jodi (Michael), Steven (Jenn), Dani (Ross), Lara (Stephen), Emma (Matt), Sara (Jeremy), Jessica (Ian), Alexa Mira, and Elysia; his 12 great-grandchildren: Morgan, Jordan, Maya, Zane, Ava, Talia, Quin, Keira, Rebekah, Charlie, Layla and Noah; his surviving in-laws: Mickey and Pearl Rosenberg, Annette Rosenberg, Becky Rosenberg, Abe Simkin; and many nieces and nephews. Irvin was predeceased by his parents, Isaac and Rivka, brother Aaron (Sybil) Ruvinsky; sister Mania Aronin; sister Clara (Harry) Weinshenker; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam (Leah) Rosenberg, Harry Rosenberg, Max Rosenberg, and Fanny Simkin. May Irvin's warmth, zest for life, and love of learning inspire others for generations to come.
