DALE M. E. LAIRD (nee EVANS) With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Dale on August 15, 2017, with her loving husband at her side. Dale was predeceased by her mother Helen. She leaves to mourn her husband David; father Mervyn (Myrtle); sister Debra Gydé (Bob); niece Meagan and her children Nathaniel and Daphne; and nephew Sorel (Krysta). Dale attended Windsor Park Collegiate and United College. She obtained her L.P.N. and R.N., working at the Children's Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre Department of Psychiatry. During this time she also earned her B. A. from the University of Winnipeg. Dale became an Employee Assistance Counsellor. Later she conducted seminars across Canada on the subject of nurse abuse in the workplace. Obtaining her Masters in Educational Psychology, she then became a school psychologist, working in a number of school divisions in the province. In addition to these accomplishments Dale was so much more. She was a loving wife, sister, friend and neighbour; a great-aunt and a great-great-aunt; with a beautiful soprano singing voice she loved to sing as a soloist and in numerous choirs over the years; a vivacious and vibrant person; enjoyed dancing (Spanish, ballroom and jive); a chef with great flair; loved to bring people together for musical and other events; produced and performed in many musical cabarets as the "Way-Off Broadway Cabaret Collective"; loved her bubbly; a talented decorator (indoors and out); loved to travel, especially Europe; a dedicated Reh-Fit member; loved fashion and every opportunity to dress up; a fantastic party organizer; loved to attract and watch birds feeding in her yard; a lover of flower gardens; a dedicated shopper; and always, always looked her best. To quote a friend, "Dale brought energy and enthusiasm to everywhere she was and everything she did. Dale's talent for singing and her interest and enthusiasm in "dressing the part" made a special occasion out of everything she did and everywhere she went." She was David's RFL. Dale's family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre and CancerCare Manitoba for the care and support she received. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends desire, a donation in Dale's memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or performing arts group of your choice. Cremation has already taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's River Heights United Church, 255 Oak Street.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • I am so sorry to hear of Dale’s passing. I took Dale and sister “Debbie” to kindergarten/grade one and babysat them in Windsor park too. Was wonderfully treated by her parents. Lost touch in the early 60’s but often thought of Mr and Mrs Evans and the girls. Later in life I worked with their mother at the Credit Bureau and she caught me up on how the girls were doing. I always thought i’d Get to connect with the girls again. But life is not always fair. So sorry Debbie and to you Mr Evans. I’m glad I read this as it tells me she had a great life that just ended too soon. Vicky - Posted by: Vicky Beauregard (nee Wilk) (Babysitter back in the 50’s.) on: Apr 15, 2019

  • Dale, you were a talented, gifted and enthusiastic person who displayed these fine attributes with grace and aplomb in countless circumstances and venues. You will be missed not only by David and your immediate family, but, also, friends, colleagues and people you nursed and clients you counselled over your shorter lifespan. - Posted by: Suzy Q. • David and family. She certainly filled her dash. She loved life. She brought energy and kindness to all she knew. There were not too many people in life I learned from, but Dale was one of those people...we are all going to miss her vitality, creativeness, especially the events that had been in progress. Her beautiful gardens will flourish as she begins her new choir in the clouds. So long for now Madame Butterfly.. - Posted by: Laurie Gydé (Friend) on: Aug 19, 2017
