Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILO ALEXANDER PROCAYLO It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our dear old dad, Miro Alexander Procaylo. He passed away peacefully in his bed surrounded by family in Winnipeg, aged 81, on August 14, 2017. He was born in Winnipeg on April 30, 1936 and was predeceased by his wife Lynne Bingham and parents, Dmytro and Anastsia Procaylo. He will be sadly missed by son Nicholas (Debbie) of Vancouver, daughter Susanna (Geoff) and son Christopher (Shannon) of Winnipeg, and grandchildren, Kate and Mark. Miro married in London after extensive travels in Europe. He earned a Masters Degree in Education at Reading University, Berkshire and went on to teach at the Newbury College of Further Education and the Coventry College of Education. Upon returning to Winnipeg, he taught at St. John's High School, Sisler High School and finished his career at Gordon Bell High School. After retirement, he worked part time for the Manitoba Film Classification Board. He had an avid interest in photography inspiring both his sons to become professional photojournalists. Other interests included history, politics, current affairs and travel. He was a kind and generous man who will be deeply missed by everyone near to him. A private family memorial will be held next week according to his wishes. We would like anyone who knew him to raise a glass this weekend in his honour and hug someone you love.

I'm sorry to read that he passed away. My condolences to him family. I first saw this over a year ago and told my daughter what I remembered about my classes. He was my favourite teacher while at Sisler (grad 1995); made geography so enjoyable. When we last spoke, he was disappointed that I didn't major in geo in university. I eventually did and loved it. I am so thankful to have met him. I looked forward to his class. One of the few places I had where I felt like I belonged and felt capable. Thank you Mr. Procaylo. - Posted by: Ruth (Student) on: Apr 22, 2019

Truly one of the best teachers, with a quirky sense of humour and quick wit. A great role model to all. Part of the group of teachers that made junior high and high school awesome. We were so fortunate. He definitely made this world a better place and all of us better people. - Posted by: pia (student) on: Oct 23, 2018

Very sad to hear about this news. Mr. Procaylo was my history teacher. I learned much. More importantly, I recall him as a very fine and understanding teacher and personality. Had not seen him in many years but; I am certain, he has been an influence on my outlook. To the family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God give you all the strength to cope with your loss. May the departed one always rest in peace. We first met Miro when he returned to Winnipeg from England and he was posted to my department at Gordon Bell. He was a great teacher, the students loved him and we taught together for many years. After we both retired I was appointed chair of the Manitoba Film Classification Board and I recommended that Miro be appointed to the board as a classifier. Miro was a very good classifier and we worked together classify film for 10 years. Winnipeg & Manitoba were lucky to get him back. We send our condolences & love to his family. Though we lost touch with Miro over the years, we have many happy memories of him and his family back in the 1960s. A stimulating conversationalist, knowledgeable and well-informed, good-hearted and open-minded, Miro was always first rate company. Though only children at the time, our sons still have fond memories of him. We will certainly be raising a glass in his honour. Our condolences to Nicholas, Susan and Christopher and all of Miro's family. Ken & Janet Osborne - Posted by: Ken & Janet Osborne (friend) on: Aug 20, 2017

I am very sad to hear of Miro's passing. It was an honour and a pleasure to work with him at the film classification board. He was a true gentleman. Kind, cultured, warm and funny. The world is a lesser place without him. - Posted by: Danishka Esterhazy (Co-worker) on: Aug 19, 2017
