JAMES KENNETH (KEN) MCRAE It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Ken McRae on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 68 years. Ken was born in Kenogami, Quebec on February 5, 1949. Left to cherish Ken's memory are his loving wife Shannon, of 45 years; son Jason (Linda); sister Margaret (Dave) Warren; brother Eddie (Val); in-laws Marion and George Fidler; brothers-in-law Donald, Kelly (Joanne), and sister-in-law Regan Halfyard, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father Elizabeth and George McRae. Ken and Jason were a very close dad and son. Ken coached Jason through the years in hockey and baseball, which was very close to their hearts. Ken was in sales in the food industry for 20 years. He then moved to the car industry and was employed at Winnipeg Honda for several years at a job he very much enjoyed (team beats with one heart). A celebration of Ken's life will be announced at a later date. Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Ken was a very good friend to my older brother Trevor and for a few years of my life he was like extended family to me and my younger brother. Many fond memories of watching them playing fastball and hanging with the team. - Posted by: Lindsay Kolt (Friend) on: Sep 05, 2017

  • Sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you, Jay and family. - Posted by: Chad z (Friend) on: Sep 02, 2017

  • I got to know Ken over the past 10 years having purchased vehicles from him. He was very professional in his interactions with the wife and I. We became good friends and in my retirement two years ago I visited Ken about every 2-3 weeks at the dealership. Got to know the real Ken and he was true to form. I will miss you Ken and the many tales we talked about. Our condolences to Shannon and Jason and other family members in the time of your loss. • Anyone who has worked with Ken knows that it takes a LONG time to get on his good side, when you're a new guy! Ken and I developed an amazing friendship over the few years that we worked together, and shared LOTS AND LOTS of amazing memories, laughs, and lunches together. He was a big SPORTS fan and one of his favorite sayings which I will always remember and still use today is "That's Baseball"! and when he was walking around the showroom when it wasn't too busy, would say "GET YOUR RED HOT CIVICS HERRREEEE!" - He was known for going to Sals on pembina almost every day for breakfast, and often brought me back a breakfast nip! I will miss Kenny every day - we shared tons of funny phone conversations, and I still talked to him weekly, even after moving dealerships. Ken had so many amazing stories, and relationships with so many people, and he is truly gone far too soon. I will always miss you Ken, anyone we worked with knows how close we were, I love you lots. - My heart goes out to Jason and Shannon, and my thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Myles Posthumus (Friend) on: Sep 01, 2017

  • We were neighbors and friends with the whole family back on Pinedale, and I will never forget that sense of humor. Shannon and Jason, we are thinking of you. - Posted by: Lori Gregorash (Family friend and former neighbor ) on: Aug 31, 2017

  • Ken, What a great man, always around to put up with mine and Jason's garbage since we were little kids. Never giving up on us or his son through it all. He will be greatly missed. Jason and Shannon stay strong he will forever be watching over you. - Posted by: Andrew Sloan (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2017
