Bruce leaves his wife Barbara, children, Susan (Don), Jim (Linda), Shawn (Russ), Dorothy, Elaine (Gord), Robert (Gail), and Grant (Martina); grandchildren, Michelle, Carrie, Dylan, Ben, Katelyn, Steven, Matthew, Andrew and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Ashton, Breanna and Shay; brother Don and sisters, Grace and Anne. He was predeceased by his parents, Frances and Icel, brother Dave, sister Pat and son-in-law George. Bruce always loved a good challenge in both his business and personal life. He built the Codville Company into a much respected grocery wholesale business then moved on to an accomplished career in real estate development. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed horses, boxing, and soccer in his youth. He later took up downhill skiing, golf, played a mean game of tennis, and successfully completed more than one marathon. His joy of boating earned him the nickname "Captain Crunch" and the annual "Codville Open" will never be the same. Some of his most cherished moments were times spent with his children and grandchildren. He was dedicated to his church where he sang in the choir. His strong faith led him to write and publish his book "No Greater Love". Bruce had a keen sense of humour, always finding a funny side of a difficult situation. He had many friends, took a genuine interest in everybody he met and was always fun to be with. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Dad, Grandpa, husband, friend now in heaven to remain in the arms of Jesus forever. Friends are invited to join the family at Elmwood Cemetery, 88 Hespeler Avenue, Winnipeg on Monday, September 18 at 1:00 p.m. A gathering to share memories to follow at Rae & Jerry's.

My condolences to the Codville Family. Bruce will remain a guiding strength for each of you, of that I'm sure. Bruce lived a good life never forgetting his family, always concerned for each one . His quiet manner paired so well with his genuine friendly ways. To be in his company was a happily comfortable experience especially as he told his many stories....happy days at Kenora come to mind and they go on & on warmly recalled. I regret I will not be with you today. Memories of Bruce will not be lost as long as each one of us lives on. I'm sure he will be with you as you and all of us celebrate his life today & in the future. ....with love.... - Posted by: Ted Simonite (Brother-in-law) on: Sep 18, 2017

Judy and I are so sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. We aren't able to travel to the funeral. We will be thinking of Barb and everyone in the family, and we hope there can be joy in the celebration of Bruce's life, along with the sadness of his passing. I am most saddened to read Bruce has died. It has been many, many years since we had any contact, but I remember his warmth, his smile, and how much I enjoyed talking with him. On behalf of the Bowles family I send deep and sincere condolences to Barbara and the family. Unfortunately, Penny and I will be away from Winnipeg and unable to attend the interment. Our thoughts and prayer though will be with you. - Posted by: Sheldon Bowles (Family friend ) on: Sep 06, 2017
