BRIAN CLAYTON MCLEOD June 11, 1955 - August 30, 2017 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, father, grandfather and dear friend, Brian after a courageous battle with cancer. Brian was born in Winnipeg and like most hearty Manitoba kids, he enjoyed the great outdoors, playing hockey and football. He was a hard worker starting right from his teenage years, and ended up working at OK Packers which eventually became J.M. Schneider then Maple Leaf Foods. He spent a total of 37 years in that plant and was able to take advantage of an early retirement when the plant closed in 2007. Brian's favourite past times were hunting and fishing at Lake Manitoba Narrows and he loved spending as much time as he possibly could ice fishing with his buddies on Lake Winnipeg. Brian and Carol enjoyed weekends and vacation time at their cottage at the Narrows where they made wonderful lifelong friends. Their second favourite place for weekend getaways was at their friends' cottage at Gull Lake where they made many more friends. Brian could make conversation with anyone and everyone, especially when the topic included the Blue Bombers, fishing or hunting. He loved being a grandpa to two-year old Zayne and one of Brian's biggest regrets over the past several months was knowing he would not be able to watch Zayne grow up. Brian was predeceased by his father Clayton, his sister Joanne (Bob). Life will never be the same for his soul mate Carol. Brian also leaves to mourn, his mother Annette, son Cory (Stefani), grandson Zayne, brothers, Dewayne and Gary (Karen), nephews, Marc, Scott and Grant, nieces, Bobbi and Rene, mother-in-law Pauline, as well as great-nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. A big thank you to the superb doctors and nurses who provided Brian with compassionate care over the years, especially his family physician Dr. Andrea Babick. Also a huge thank you to our wonderful supportive friends. As per Brian's request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba.
