ROSEMARIE RIESE (CRAIG)
Born: Apr 22, 1943
Date of Passing: Aug 30, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSEMARIE RIESE (nee CRAIG) April 22, 1943 - August 30, 2017 With sadness, we announce the death of RoseMarie Riese, aged 74, of pancreatic cancer. Born in Portadown, Northern Ireland, she came to Canada to chase her dreams, see Expo '67 in Montreal and visit relatives who had offered her a place to stay in Winnipeg. She met the love of her life and they married on April 26, 1969, making a home and raising a family at Westphalia Farms in Lockport. RoseMarie wanted everyone around her to be happy. She had an easy smile and a joyful laugh. Her artistic knack was expressed through quilting, knitting and other crafts. And, she had a fine sense of adventure. Lifelong travels took her to nearly every continent, only missing Antarctica when the planned excursion from a South American cruise was cancelled. RoseMarie's memory will be carried forward by Hank, her husband of 48 years; children, Craig (Crystal), Jennifer (Peter), Allison (Delaney), and Kelly (Robert); grandchildren, Cate, Amanda, Evan, Marcus, Tamir, and Nye Marie; and her cherished community of family and friends in Little Britain and around the world. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 7 at 10:30 a.m., St. Margaret's Church, 103 Little Britain Rd. Instead of flowers, consider a donation to the Palliative Care Fund at the Selkirk and District Community Foundation, 200 Eaton Ave., Selkirk, MB R1A 0W6, (204) 785-9755.

I was newly ordained and all the wonderful people of Little Britain took me into their lives and hearts. I still remember you Rosemarie, in the front bench in church with Hank and the kids. You always wore a new, large Spring Hat! And you would bring those beautiful flowers to Church from your garden! I would have thought you were English instead of Irish for wearing that big hat! Oh all the wonderful visits and meals we had at your place on the farm! I remember Ally getting her leg casts soaked off for her birthday party! And how she would happily yell ( when I came to visit in the little old Ford Maverick)" Mommy, here comes God in his little orange car!" How we laughed over that one! I remember when you got the swimming pool. I remember when I talked you and Hank into doing the Baptism Preparation for those with new babies-you were so gracious! I remember you also so willing trusting this young Priest, still wet behind the ears, joining the Prayer Group I started and of course the monthly Marriage encounter meetings with the home Masses-now those were the real Church Days! Gracious was your smile as was your being! Your children as altar servers and their picnics on the paddle wheeler and at the new Waterslide! You are now with Hanks parents and yours of course-with all those from Little Britain who have gone before you. I have not been a good one for keeping in touch, but my heart will always be full of my first little parish and how alive you were spiritually! You celebrated life and Liturgy and I celebrated both with you! Oh those good old community dances! There is an old Hymn "called "Precious Memories" and we all have many of them! Please smile as you look down on me tonight as I barbecue a chicken this labor day weekend! No more labor for you, only new eternal youth for Jesus said, to the disciples after he had risen from the dead, "If you believe in Me, you will have risen bodies like mine!" I want a body like that, that can eat grilled fish and appear and disappear at will-no more arthritis, aches or pains or old age-a new life that continually moves into more healing in our bodies and with everyone else! Rejoice Rosemarie Rejoice! Hank and the kids, no longer kids, my former altar servers, please re-read these last few lines and I pray you will get strength from them. P S. As a priest who has been hospital chaplain since 1985, I just want to say, "I hate Cancer!". - Posted by: Fr. Ron Rissling, omi (former Pastor) on: Sep 04, 2017

My heart goes out to you and your family. I always enjoyed going to your house to play or for a sleep over. Your mom was so loving and kind. I remember her beautiful smile and lovely accent. I remember meeting her for the first time and understanding right away where you got your joyful heart from. - Posted by: Monique Vasquez (Manswell) (Friend if Jennifer) on: Sep 03, 2017

Dear Hank and Family, I was so sorry to hear of RoseMarie's passing. I was looking forward with great anticipation to our having a few days together last spring. I didn't realize that RoseMarie was so ill. I will miss Hank and RoseMarie's visits to St. Albert and Spruce Grove in Alberta. It was like a breathe of Little Britain air when they came to visit and I got to hear how everyone in the community was doing. There was lots of good news and a bit of sad news. My family, Terese, Cindy and Paul send our prayers. We will light a candle at Mass to celebrate her Life. Much love to all, Bernice Verklan and Family. - Posted by: Bernice Verklan (Friend) on: Sep 02, 2017
