Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRITA ELGA (LEIBERT) JACOBSEN March 7, 1935 - September 1, 2017 Our mother, Rita Jacobsen, passed away on September 1, 2017. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Ron Jacobsen, son, David Bruce, mother, Emma (Leibert) Anderson, father Charlie Leibert, brother, Clifford. Surviving are her children: Ken (Sandy), Dawna and Keith Jacobsen. Her grandchildren: Michelle, Jennifer, Matthew, Tova (Curtis), and great-grandchildren, Oskar and Dakota; all who brought her great love and joy! Her sister-in-law and good friend Lucille Leibert and family whom she cherished. Nieces Karen, Sharon and families. Gordon Letvak and family, who were so close through the years and brought many laughs and comfort. Rita was always thankful and kept in her heart through the years the wonderful friends and neighbours she had from Belair, Morse Place, North Kildonan and St. James. She also carried a special affinity and love throughout the years of all of her family and friends from the Bird River and the Lac du Bonnet area; as well as her Hen Club. She cherished her Latvian heritage. Mom gave love unconditionally and taught us that family, love, forgiveness and faith were most important in life, and that God's existence could always be witnessed by the beauty in nature. We thank you for all the wonderful care at St. Boniface, Riverview and Seven Oaks hospitals. An open house memorial will be held on Sunday, September 17, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Riverside Plaza, 1660 Henderson Hwy., in the 2nd floor Club Room. Separate ground level access to the Club Room is at the rear of the complex at the north end of the parking lot. Call 204-399-3553 for further info.

Rita was known to me from my childhood, and despite her trials, was always incredibly gracious and warm. If there is a heaven, she is there. If there are angels, she is one. - Posted by: Cheryl () on: Sep 17, 2017

I celebrate my dear friend "Coo" of our Hen Club. Our paths crossed in high school and our friendship traversed the many years of family and friends - the ups and downs of life - joys and sorrows. In our latter years we were able to create times together - Minneapolis, Gimli, Winnipeg, Belair. I treasure the time when we travelled from Winnipeg to Portland, Oregon - a glorious visit. We went to the coast; walked the beaches looking for stones and agates; smell the ocean air; listened to the surf crash; ate lunch at a wayside; flew a kite; drove the Willamette Valley; went east and up and over the very narrow road to the summit of the lava fields where we were in awe of the surrounding volcanic mountains. Down the east side to Sisters - lamas and crafts; north over some more mountains and back to the valley. Time with family in friends in Portland - tours of our wonderful city. We took the Amtrak train up to be with Shirley in Everett - train fun; friend talk; sharing great cooking; "talking" and Coo wanting to take home a start from the blackberry thicket - aggressively invasive in Oregon. These memories and more I hold dear and treasure. - Posted by: Lenore Swan (Hen Club friend) on: Sep 15, 2017
