KATHERINE MITCHELL September 9, 1943 - September 8, 2017 Peacefully, after a brief stay at St. Boniface Hospital, Kathy finished her journey on earth and was welcomed into eternity to be with her Saviour, on Friday, September 8, 2017. Kathy was the eldest of four children born to Jacob J. F. Braun and Nellie (Funk) Braun, farmers in the Grunthal area. Sadly, her father was killed in a traffic accident on November 5, 1955. The family moved to Steinbach in 1957. Kathy moved to Winnipeg in early 1960. She met her future husband in the sewing factory where they worked. They married in May 1969. They had two daughters. Sadly, they separated in 2011 and divorced in 2015. Kathy is survived by two daughters: Pamela (Conrad) Doerksen, and their children: Kiandra, Kezia, and Kaden; and Amanda Mitchell and her children: Brittney and Shayne. Also surviving her are two brothers: Henry (Alice) Braun, Ernest (Doreen) Braun, and their families; her sister Mary Ann, and Kathy's ex-husband Albert Mitchell. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, Manitoba. Interment of ashes will follow at the Grunthal Cemetery on Kathy's mother's grave. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kathy may be made to Siloam Mission.
