RACHELLE MARIE SIMARD (née MICHAUD) October 31, 1929 - September 8, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rachelle. Mom grew up in St. Annes, Manitoba where she met Theodore, her husband of 58 years. They started their lives together in St. Boniface, where they raised their family. Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will be sadly missed by Robert (Janet), Doris (David), Roland (Helen), Elise, Gilles (Heather), Maurice (Leona) and Lynne (Chris); grandchildren Jason (Tracy), Rachelle (Elliott), Darrell, Michael (Michelle), Jennifer (Brett), Michael (Chelsea), Morgan (James), Ashley (Brandon), Samantha (Luke), Matthew (Miranda), Alicia, Scott, Ryan and Maddison; and great-grandchildren Zachery, Jessica-Jade, Kadence, Laura, Nevaeh, Hudson, Thalia and Bentley. She also leaves behind her sister Victoria, and brothers Alcid, Eloi, Solas and Levi; along with many brothers and sisters in-law. Rachelle was predeceased by her loving husband Theodore; parents Hervè and Laurentine Cote; grandson James; daughter-in-law Nicole; sisters Alice, Emiliènne, Dolores, and brother Honora. Mom lived a long and fulfilling life spending much time with her family. She loved to sing, play bingo and knit. Each time a new grandchild was born; Rachelle was filled with excitement at the idea of knitting new blankets and clothing. Being a second mother to many, her door and heart were always open. Baking was her specialty as the aroma of freshly baked bread always filled the neighbourhood. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Actionmarguerite for their compassion and care. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathédrale, Winnipeg, MB. A reception will follow at the Notre Dame Community Centre, 271 avenue de la Cathédrale. Interment will take place at the LaBroquerie Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. LECLAIRE BROTHERS 475 Provencher Blvd., in care of arrangements, 204-775-2220

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Memere, you were the most precious wonderful woman I know! I wanted to leave my poem I found here for you! Memere, God looked around his Garden And found an empty space Then he looked down upon this earth And saw your tired face He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest Gods garden must be beautiful He only takes the best Until we meet again! I will cherish our memories forever! Xoxox - Posted by: Rachelle (Grand Daughter) on: Sep 14, 2017
