Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN CURRAN ROBINSON 1925 - 2017 Died at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 2, 2017. He was 95 years old. He lived and enjoyed the last eight years of his life with his many friends at the Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence in Winnipeg. John was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on December 5, 1921 - the second youngest child of Roy and Pearl (Smyth) Robinson, Canadian railroad pioneers. He studied at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario (cadet #2702), graduating in 1942 and served as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Army from 1942 to 1945. After the war, he worked from 1946 to 1948 for the Department of Highways in Ontario and studied at the University of Manitoba, graduating with a degree in Engineering in 1952. He worked as a Professional Engineer for the Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation of Canada until he retired in 1980. In his time with CMHC he was posted to Winnipeg, Ottawa and Dartmouth. In 1954 he married Evelyn Fitzpatrick and together they had two children, Patricia and Pamela. John married again in 1990 to Loretta Lapointe. John was sadly predeceased by his elder daughter Patricia Crocker (Ken) of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Hanner of Fellsmere, Florida, Jean Cooper of Midland, Texas and Frances Davidson of Ottawa, Ontario, and also by his wives Evelyn and Loretta. He is survived by his younger daughter Pamela Wood (Chris), and her family Josie and Kiefer, all of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Respecting his wishes his body has been donated to the University of Manitoba and there will be no funeral.
