Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORIE MAY PINCHBECK It is with heavy hearts that we announce the demise of our wife, mother and grandmother, Marjorie May Pinchbeck, at the age of 88 years, on September 18, 2017 at River East Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, MB. She is now at peace after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Born November 2, 1928 in Prelate, SK to Annie Naomi and John Douglas (JD) Thorburn. She later moved to Sceptre, SK where she received her basic education. Upon completion, she moved to Calgary, AB where she was accepted into a Registered Nursing program. She graduated as a RN in the fall class of 1949 and received the silver medal for General Proficiency in Nursing from Calgary General Hospital. After moving to Winnipeg in 1950, she married Thomas Richard Pinchbeck. They shared nearly 67 years of marriage. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Naomi and JD Thorburn, her sister, Vivian Pollock and brother-in-law, Loys Pollock. To cherish her memory, she leaves her husband, Thomas Richard (Tom, Rick) Pinchbeck, daughter, Marina Young (Jerry), and son, Martin Pinchbeck (Deen Wilson), grandson, Michael Pinchbeck, and granddaughter, Christine Pinchbeck. Marjorie was very proud of her nursing education and worked at the Calgary General Hospital, Winnipeg Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, and Winnipeg Children's Hospital. She was very proud of her daughter and granddaughter who followed her steps into the nursing profession. She was also very proud of her son, Martin and her grandchildren, Michael and Christine. Always very studious, she spent many hours reading medical journals and researching various medical aspects of her patients. She was well known for her photographic memory and her many discussions on a variety of topics. Over the years, she developed many wonderful friendships through her work, social, and neighbourhood activities. Along with her husband, winters were spent in both Madeira Beach, Fl and Mesa, AZ. Many happy times were spent accompanying her husband to the many Masonic and Shriner's activities. Marjorie also belonged to Daughters of the Nile. Cruises were also thoroughly enjoyed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day St., Winnipeg at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
