Verna and Gene were good friends of my parents and when they visited us in Toronto when I was just a wee kid - it was always magic and laughter. Verna looked after us in 1968 when my dad had a bad car accident and mom was busy looking after him. Verna bought me a set of walkie-talkies which at that time was like buying a kid an XBOX today - went out of my mind. Verna was sharp business like and stunning. Mom talked about her trip with her to a mall where she took the wrong turn and ended up going the wrong way on a one way lane - some guy lost it and started honking - Verna got out lifted the hood of her car - smiled at the guy and looked helpless - which of course she never was. What a terrific play! My parents, Edna and Stan are long gone but I've recounted their friendship to many over the years - they had the spirit of life and were true entrepreneurs - magicians both! - Posted by: Murray McCabe (nephew of sorts) on: Nov 24, 2017

Just seeing her picture brings tears to my eyes, even though she would tell me "what are your crying for"!! I had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Shelley for many years. She was an amazing lady, sharp as a tack!! She was someone I could always confide in and I knew that our conversation would stay with her! She got along with everyone, whether they were 20, 40, 60 or older, it didn't matter. She was the coolest!! I envied her hair LOL!!! Rest in Peace Mrs. Shelley!! You are certainly missed!! - Posted by: Mary Richardson (co-worker) on: Sep 29, 2017
