GERDA KUZNIA It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gerda Kuznia, on September 10, 2017 at the age of 85. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Diane and son-in-law Andreas, along with many close personal friends. Gerda was predeceased by her husband Leo; daughter Brigette; sister Irmgard and brother Dieter. Born August 17, 1932, in East Prussia, Gerda immigrated to Canada with her husband Leo in 1953. In 1954, she started working at the Bay in the catering department, where she spent the next 35 years. She took pride in whatever task she did and was named employee of the month numerous times. In 1990, she took her catering prowess to Rae and Jerry's where her "loving hands" worked their magic until her retirement in 2010. Mom was famous for her fancy sandwiches! Some of Mom's greatest pleasures in life were going to Patricia Beach; she loved the outdoors regardless of the weather, shrimp dinners at Red Lobster with Andy, A&W onion rings, and a stiff Gin and Tonic on occasion. Time spent with family and friends were also on the top of her list as well as her fur-babies, Monty, Riley and little Bella. Mom was the kindest most loving and generous person to everyone she met and loved. She went out of her way to make everyone happy. Andy and I would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for the care given to our mom. We would also wish to thank our friends and neighbours for their love and support during this difficult time. Respecting mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or to the pet rescue shelter of your choice. "We Love and Miss You Mom; Thank You For Everything" www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

Dear Diane, we are sorry to hear about the passing away of your mother. My mum has always been telling about family members we have in Canada, but we never researched anything until now because I told her that I would like to do my semester abroad in Canada. She has told me about the both of you writing letters around '79 and she still has some of them. It would be lovely to get in touch with you and hear more about you and your family. My mother's name is Elke Guillium (maiden name: Langguth, grown up in Titz- Rödingen). Please send me an e-mail: n.guillium@t-online.de Kind regards, Nathalie Guillium - Posted by: Nathalie Guillium (Family) on: Dec 23, 2017

I remember meeting your mom at the college picnic and how comfortable she made me feel right away. She was a very witty, lovely lady and she will be very much missed. I am so sorry for you loss. - Posted by: Marie DuRussel (Friend) on: Oct 05, 2017

Your mom will always be remembered with laughter and smiles. She was such a special person, and always treated everyone with kindness. Every time we met, she had a smile and a story, and I will miss that. Our hearts and prayers go out to you. Love you! - Posted by: Susan and Doug Pylatuk (Friends) on: Sep 23, 2017
