SANDRA MAE KAUFMAN Sadly on August 25, 2017, surrounded by family, we peacefully lost a true lady. Sandra was born in Minneapolis, MN June 13, 1933 to Hy and Ella Schwartz as well as to a large, very close knit, fun loving family to whom she still had very strong ties. After meeting our dad on a blind date, she soon acquired a second family north of the border who welcomed her with open arms. Sandy took much pride in everything she did - her career in office administration, family and holiday celebrations, dinner parties, volunteer commitments, and activities she was willing to try, including camping, boating and snowmobiling. She was legendary for her culinary skills and was the "hostess with the mostest". She was an avid card player and she delighted in her card groups playing Pan and Canasta with the same women for over 50 years. Our mom and grandma was a lady who liked to get to know people and then she loved to care about them. She was a very good friend to many, a true good listener. She loved her family immensely and spending time together was very important to her. She was passionately interested in everything her children and grandchildren were involved in and she had a remarkably organized way of keeping up with everyone's schedule. Sandy was predeceased by her beloved husband Coley, parents Hy and Ella Schwartz, in-laws Norman and Goldie Kaufman (Zalman Chisvin), and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Evelyn and Joe Raymond. She will be missed beyond measure by her daughters and grandchildren, Marna Lynn (Caleigh, Hilary, Hannah and Brendan) and Leslie Beth (Noa and Adi), and is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Barry and Marcy Schwartz, son-in-law Jim Ramsey, several nieces and nephews, and some very special cousins. A private graveside service took place with interment at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery, along with a private shiva. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Clare Whiteman, Rabbi Matthew Leibl and Bill Weissmann. We would also like to thank those involved in all aspects of her care, there are too many to list but we are aware of each and every one of you and greatly appreciate your contribution. We would be remiss however, if we didn't mention Dr. C. Bradshaw and her staff, Dr. Badesha and the staff at Victoria General Hospital, Danielle Hall from HomeCare and her team, Jan and Brian from the Shaftesbury, Sydney Berquist, and Esther and her lovely team. ..."and so it goes". Concentrated efforts will be made to wear earrings and lipstick! xoxo If so desired, donations in Sandra's memory would be gratefully accepted by The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
