CORNELIA (CORRIE) BATTISTUZZI (nee COX) April 17, 1920 - September 16, 2017 Our beloved mom Corrie, at 97, peacefully passed away at her home, surrounded by her daughters and a beloved caregiver. Mom, you always were a beautiful, generous, intelligent woman, we will love and miss you tremendously. Mom will be dearly missed by her children, Richard (Rosa); Joanie; Diane (Scott); Judy (Dave); Pat (Bob); Linda (Len); Susan (Peter); grandchildren Alanna, Jennifer, Sandy, Phil, Stephan, Christina, Marc, Robyn, Debbie, Shannon, Heather, Ryan, Derek and Chris (and spouses/partners); great-grandchildren; other family and friends. Mom was predeceased by her husband Armand; her parents, siblings (and spouses); her dear niece, Helen; extended family and many close friends. Corrie and Armand married in 1942 and lived a full life in St. Vital, loving and caring for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our mom worked steadily, in and outside the home. She sewed and knit up a storm: clothes, coats, wedding dresses, blankets, and more. With our dad, Mom worked in our large garden, canning, preserving and preparing meals from the yearly crops. Our mom was a devoted Catholic through her life, an active participant in her church and enduring in her faith. Our mom lived at Riverside Lion's Estate in St. Vital. There, she had many good friends and engaged in social activities, the Lionelle's club and, of course, playing Bingo. Travel was also part of Mom's life and, at the age of 89, she went to Hawaii with her family; her vitality and enthusiasm during that trip were awe-inspiring! She also spent time at our cottages where she enjoyed some of her passions: nature, good suppers and desserts, a little bit of wine and, mostly, being with her beloved family. Our mom had health issues over the years, but her resilience and strength kept her going. However, as health declined and her needs increased, she required constant care and, fortunately, was able to have that care her own home. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of Mom's caregivers, especially Sheila, Elizabeth, Joan, June and Angie, all of whom provided excellent care, compassion and comfort to our mom, particularly in her last few months. We also would like to thank the W.R.H.A. Palliative Care program who, over a short time course, were able to provide our mom with the support and comfort she needed to die peacefully in her home. Such a great program, Mom (and family) was blessed to receive their assistance. We also want to thank RANA Home Oxygen Care Group for their support in our mom's care. We are truly grateful to all of these people whose dedicated care gave our dear mommy the comfort she deserved. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.; it will take place at Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Road, St. Vital. For those who wish to make a donation in our mom's name, please consider the Manitoba Lung Association (301-1 Wesley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6) or D'Arcy's ARC Animal Rescue Centre (730 Century St., Winnipeg, MB R3H 0M1).
