PETER REMPEL Peter Rempel passed away peacefully, in his sleep, September 27, 2017 at 92 years of age. Dad was born March 29, 1925 in Russia. He immigrated to Canada when he was three years old. Peter grew up on the family farm in Springstein, MB. Dad and Mom were married for 67 years. They built their home in Headingley, MB where they raised their boys Barry and Kelvin. Peter retired from United Messenger in 1994. He and Edith enjoyed camping and travelling with their trailer, most often with family and friends. Peter loved his duties as Opa and was always delighted when the kids stopped in for a visit. He could often be found sitting on the deck in the sun, closely monitoring the squirrel situation in the bushes, or dozing in his chair in the living room. Peter will be fondly remembered by his wife Edith, son Kelvin (Sharon), grandson Craig (Brianne), great-grandkids Cayden, Lilly and Blaire; granddaughter Krystin (Joel), brother Henry (Anne), sisters Hilda, Betty (Maury), sisters-in-law Trudy, Herta, and brother-in-law Jack (Janet). He was predeceased by his parents, Isbrandt and Katharina, son Barry, his brother Jack, sisters Mary, Kathy, and brothers-in-law Paul, Walter and George. We are grateful for the excellent care Opa received from so many health care providers over the last few years, most recently at Tuxedo Villa. A service will be held Monday, October 2, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Headingley United Church, 110 Bridge Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or the charity of your choice.
