MAURINE NORDLINGER (KOZAK) (MILLER)
Date of Passing: Sep 28, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAURINE NORDLINGER (KOZAK) (nee MILLER) December 1927 - September 2017 Correction in Time of Service Surrounded by the love of her family and supported by the prayers of her pastor, Mom was lifted up "on eagle's wings" to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 28, 2017. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Ella and James Miller Sr.; her siblings, Jim and Geraldine; our dad, Frederick Kozak Sr.; and her second husband, Roy Nordlinger. Mom was born Lois-Anne Maurine Miller, was raised in Winnipeg, graduated from Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate, and enjoyed a fulfilling career as a medical secretary and court reporter for the Department of Veterans Affairs, working many of her years at Deer Lodge Hospital. Mom was a very beautiful woman, both in looks and character, and she endeavoured to live a rich life, full of love and faith, dignity and grace, wisdom and wit, courage and tenacity. She poured endless amounts of unconditional love and prayer on her treasured children Fred (Tracy), Doug (Kim) and Glenys. She thrilled to see the growing accomplishments of her precious grandchildren Jay, Lee, Tanner, Brett, Conner, Nolan, Megan and Nicholas. She loved to keep in touch with her many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom loved spending warm and happy times with her family at her gracious home in St. James, her summer cottage in Gimli, her winter home in Mesa and her cozy condo in St. Norbert. She enjoyed her travels across Canada, and to the States, as well as to England, Scotland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Greece and Israel. She was a faithful and lifelong member of Calvary Temple and was avidly involved in singing in the choir, sewing costumes for The Messiah, organizing the 100th Anniversary Celebrations, and serving on the Archives Committee. She took pleasure in the lifelong friendships of her "Hens Club", curling gang, singing groups, and ceramics buddies. She always enjoyed having a good chat and chuckle with her neighbours, and quickly embraced new acquaintances. She also could be found puttering in her pajamas, reading mysteries or historical fiction, puzzling through crosswords, exchanging humourous emails, or debating political issues. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for the care and compassion given by Dr. Sam Smal, the staff of Victoria Hospital CancerCare, and the staffs of the ICU, Stepdown Unit and Surgical Ward of the St. Boniface Hospital. We feel deep gratitude for the many years of special visits and prayerful support of the Pastoral staff of Calvary Temple, especially Bruce Marten, Bruce and JoAnne Logan and Marietta Seargeant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Temple Camp, Retreat Centre. The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave Street, Winnipeg. I remember Mrs. Kozak very well, from the many times I spent with Fred Jr. at their home in St. James and at the cabin in Gimli. She was always very kind and warm. The last time I saw her was at the Calvary Temple 100th Anniversary. She looked the same as when I saw her last. Our deepest condolences and may God bless the family. So very sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Mrs. Kozak from my youth, always had such an upbeat, happy spirit and was a very giving person. She allowed Doug and I to eat all her bread and peanut butter before games. We will miss her and wish all her wonderful family much love and comfort.
