MONTAGNE MAKWA WAJIIW SANDERSON It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to Montagne who took his last breath at Health Sciences Centre on September 30, 2017, at 4:20 a.m., surrounded by the love of family and friends. Cherished son of Ken and Danielle, brother of Charlemagne, Olivier and Juliette-Bineshi, he will be missed by his loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Friends and family are invited to commemorate Montagne's life at the Notre Dame Recreational Centre on Friday, October 6 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by a walk in the trails he so loved. Heartfelt gratitude goes out to the support received during this difficult time. For those inquiring, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund (CMTTF).

Condolences & Memories (32 entries)

  • Monty this September it will be 6 years since you’ve passed. I remember one night a few weeks before this tragedy happened you asked me to hangout because you were upset. I was tired and asked to reschedule. I regret that decision with my whole heart. I still wonder if seeing you one last time would have given me closure. Or peace of mind. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you. I think about you all the time. Every time I hear riptide or see a mountain. You were such a light in my life and I’ll miss you forever. Thank you for the kindness you’ve spread. Thank you for being you. Rest easy angel. - Posted by: Taylor (Friend) on: Jun 25, 2023

  • Hey man, we've been through a lot together. Good and hard times, I was dedicated to you brother. I miss you and I hoped you would have contacted me, I have messed my life so much but Jesus brought it back and healed it. Often in my walk I prayed for you. I hoped one day you find yourself praying too but now I only regret the past only the part where we stopped talking. But things happened and now I can only see and remember you in my memories. Goodbye Monty. My brother from 2004-2017 - Posted by: Raphael Buscio (Brother) on: Jun 30, 2019

  • Knowing Monty was a blessing. Monty could walk into a room full of anger and hate, and turn it into one of love and laughter.. His charm, His laugh, His selflessness, compassion.. Monty was all of that. It was so rare to find such a beautiful soul like his. I spent the Thursday with Monty, earlier in the day, talked with him for hours about life, let his laugh fill my room.. I never thought that day the world would physically lose such a powerful, ambitious, courageous, beautiful man. I feel Monty in every step, every move I make, he had so much purpose to fulfill and I won't ever settle for that.. People only had to meet Monty once, and they wouldn't ever forget him.. In peace my boy, your soul still lives on. - Posted by: Justice (Best Friend) on: Oct 06, 2017

  • I can only imagine the pain, loss, confusion and devastation those left behind are feeling. It was a shock that no one was prepared for and a loss that will affect those who loved him forever. My deepest sympathies go out to Monty's family. I can only hope that you all find peace in knowing that he is now resting. He will feel no pain, no sadness. Only sunlight, calmness and love. I believe that those who leave this world too soon, do so for serenity. He showed the world a shining star, bright and shining. Find strength in the sweet memories. Those last forever. May he rest in the heavens and find peace in nature's paths in the sky. - Posted by: Cristan Stevenson () on: Oct 06, 2017

  • Hearing about you passing hit me pretty hard. I remember hiring you when you we're only 15. You we're such a hard worker, charming and and amazing sales guy. We hit it off pretty well and it was like you were my little brother. You introduced me to your family, I remember how much you adored them and your sisters. You would always sneak on my phone and take a bunch of selfies of yourself without me knowing and discovering them later. So silly all the time and we laughed alot...worked as a good team. You we're always honest about everything and how you felt or what bothered you. The world is going to be a bit emptier now without you. Take care Monty :( Glad I met you, Christina - Posted by: Christina (Friend, boss) on: Oct 05, 2017

  • Monty and I always had memories, but how we met is what matters. Grade 4 monty brought muffins and he said something like "look they bounce" and we threw them in the bus and started the reckless friendship. He always told me how i inspired him to be himself, but im myself because of him, how he never cared what people thought. He was a beautiful soul and we had so many memories like when we were super young and his prents brought us to the YMCA and outside the city to visit family and the telepurse story and how hed always want an adventure and bus places and I always said no because i hate busing. We'd walk to the trails sometimes and have serious talks. I miss that and I miss him. Je t'aime montagne. - Posted by: Chantal (Best friend) on: Oct 04, 2017
