EDITH MINUK (nee RUBANENKO) Edith Minuk was born February 2, 1922 and died September 7, 2017. During her 95 years she enriched the lives of her family, friends and many acquaintances with her love, caring, hospitality, humour and fortitude. Edith's primary concern was the well being of her family. Faced with some difficult times throughout her husband's lengthy illness, she demonstrated a strength and positive attitude that was an inspiration to all. Her greatest joy came from raising a family who in turn, respected and loved her dearly. Memories of our mother and baba will be treasured forever. Edith was predeceased by her parents: Morris and Dora; brothers: Zig, Ben and Henry; son-in-law: Raymond, and the love of her life, husband Max. She leaves to mourn her children: Sam (Darlene), Gary (Cheryl), Yosel (Lindsay) and Maureen; grandchildren: David, Daniel (Rachael), Rachel, Richard and Adam (Samantha), and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank her homecare providers Juanita, Edna, Carmen and Leoni for their kindness and care over the past few years, the staff at the Portsmouth Seniors Residence, and Doctors C. Jaeger, V. Gordon and R. Kroeker. In honour of her memory, donations may be made to the Edith Minuk Memorial Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba. The funeral was held on September 8 with interment at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Rabbi A. Altein officiated.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Dear Minuk family: It saddens my heart to hear that your beautiful, funny, witty mother has passed on. Please accept our sincerest condolences. Please know that you are all in our thoughts, our hearts and in our prayers for peace. I had the pleasure of meeting your mother years ago on her many many surprise visits to Gary's office just to say hi and to see how her son was doing. She always brightened Gary's eyes and the whole office. Gary would great her with his usual Hi "Ma" what are you doing here? His Mom would answer just visiting and would tell us a tale of her venture for the day. She will be forever missed. • My condolences to Edith's family. My heart breaks for them. I got the honor to meet Edith when I worked as a dining room supervisor at The Ports. She always made me laugh and smiled when ever I saw her. She always had witty comments that made me laugh. She told it like it was and she was such a joy to be around. I will miss her on my occasional visits to The Ports. Rest In Peace beautiful lady. - Posted by: Maureen Smith (Friend) on: Oct 07, 2017
