ROSE EVELYN MCGREGOR (ZUCHKAN)
Date of Passing: Sep 27, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE EVELYN MCGREGOR (nee ZUCHKAN) Rose Evelyn McGregor passed away peacefully on September 27, 2017. Rosie will be dearly missed by nieces Gladys (John), Myra and Candassy; stepdaughter Anne (Morley); grandchildren Shauna (Brian), Darren (Carlie) and David (Michelle); great-grandchildren Gwenelen, Ashlyn, Evan, Andrew, Ellie and Emerson; and many nephews, nieces and friends. Rosie was predeceased by her parents William and Frances; siblings, Florence, Frances, Phyllis, Billy, Ivy, Marion, Joe and "baby brother" Louis. Rosie grew up on a small farm in Pine Ridge and fondly recalls playing in big summer rainstorms with her brothers and sisters. Rosie had a real zest for life. She loved her family, animals, and she loved to dance and to laugh. At the age of 16, Rosie joined the Army and later became one of the first female cab drivers in Winnipeg working at Moore's Taxi. She then learned the trade of welding and in 1966 became the second female welder at Motor Coach. In 1989 Rosie married long-time friend and soul mate, Peter McGregor. They shared many happy years together, spending time with good friends, fishing at Wallace Lake, travelling to Scotland where Peter was from and to their winter home in Mesa, Arizona with their small white Chihuahua, Tiny. Rosie was a loyal Blue Jays fan, enjoyed western novels and trying her luck in the casino. She was remarkably independent and drove a hard bargain - ask the car dealerships in town! She enjoyed her special neighbours and living in her own home - an impressive feat for 91 years of age. Rosie would often say, "I've had a good life. I have no regrets." That is certainly a success most of us would wish for. We love you Rosie. Thank you for all the memories and the laughs.
