MERRILY MARGARET PETERS (nee SIM) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Merrily Peters, on October 5, 2017. Merrily will be lovingly remembered by: her husband Randal; her children, Daniel (Leah), Alyssa (Marshall), Holly (Josh) and Michael; as well as her mother Winnifred, her three grandchildren and her three siblings. Merrily's life was filled with a deep love of family and a love of music. She was a violist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for 25 years and with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra for 13 years. She taught us all the true meaning of quiet grace. A memorial service will be held at Grace Bible Church (Winnipeg) on October 15 at 7:00 p.m.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Ken and I send our deepest condolences to Merrily's family. Merrily was the first person to befriend me when I began playing with the WSO in the early nineties. I was new to Winnipeg, and I will never forget how she made me feel welcome both at the orchestra and in her home. My heart breaks for her family. She was a truly wonderful and kind person. - Posted by: Jennifer Glass () on: Oct 17, 2017

  • Dear Winnifred and family, I am sending you heartfelt condolences on the recent passing of Merrily! I remember her from my days in Winnipeg as a bright and bubbly little girl. May God grant you comfort, peace and strength in this time of grief. In Christian Love, John Nelson - Posted by: John Nelson () on: Oct 14, 2017

  • Dear family of Merrily, I worked at Canadian Tire many summers ago with Merrily, and she made a very tedious job fun and lovely. Her talk of the WSO inspired me to attend several times that winter, and she would always scan the crowd before the concert began and I would wave and she would lift her bow and wave, wave it in the air in a return salute. It was nothing short of magical to me that someone so beautiful and accomplished had taken an interest in a near-stranger. I have never forgotten that beautiful gift. If Merrily impacted me so deeply I can't imagine how much her loss hurts you. I thank God for Merrily's life and ask his blessing on you in your grief.
