THOMAS A. WILSON June 16, 1943 - October 13, 2017 Today we lost the love of our lives...husband, father, grandfather, brother, family and dear friend. He leaves to mourn his wife Norma; daughter Jen, son Dave and his wife Yvette and his beautiful granddaughters Georgia and Chloe; his sister Helen (Chuck), and many nieces and nephews. Tom was born in Flin Flon in 1943 where he grew up and made life long friends. He left home to pursue university, first at Brandon College and then on to the University of Manitoba. He obtained his Science Degree and then switched over to the Chartered Accountants program. He articled with Price Waterhouse and worked there for 26 years becoming a taxation partner. He then joined James Richardson and Sons Ltd. and worked there until his retirement in 2006. He met Norma in 1966 and they were married in 1967 (celebrating their 50th anniversary this past month). Dave and Jen arrived and their family was complete. Tom was always proud of his family and encouraged them in their pursuits, and this carried over to his grandchildren. He always maintained strong friendships and was such a gentle presence in all of our lives. Golf was always a big part of Tom's life, starting as a child in Flin Flon and on to Super Seniors at Niakwa Country Club. One of his highlights was winning the Manitoba Mid-Amateur championship in 1993. Another big part of Tom's life was Victoria Beach, where he and Norma purchased a cottage in 1974. The family has enjoyed many summers together over the years and his presence on the golf course and around the game table will be missed. Tom had struggled with his health for the past four years but was always positive and accepting of the hand he was dealt. We would like to thank Dr. Johnston and Irena at CancerCare for their dedication to Tom's wellbeing, and to the wonderful, caring staff at Riverview. Rest in peace my "gentle" man. Service to be held at First Lutheran Church, 580 Victor Street at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 19. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

The passing of Tom will leave a huge hole in the lives of his immediate family as well as to those who knew him. He was a kind and gentle person who cared deeply for his family. Tom and Norma had a wonderful relationship together. They traveled extensively seeing much of the world. They enjoyed their their summers at their cabin with friends and family where Tom could hone his golfing skills. He lived a full and fulfilling life and we should be very thankful for each day he was with us. He will truly be missed. - Posted by: Dick Closson (Brother in law) on: Dec 04, 2017

Norma and family. So sorry to learn of Tom's passing and that we missed his funeral at our church. I remember his and your very regular attendance at worship and commitment to the food bank and supper program at church. May you find comfort and peace in your loss. Many fond memories of our Niakwa vs Elmhurst Senior Putter battles. You were tough to handle One of the best putters in the league. We will all miss you Tom. Our condolences to your friends and family - Posted by: Jack zacharias (Golf competitor) on: Oct 18, 2017

I am deeply saddened to hear of Tom's passing. I have known Tom for over 50 years. We first met in Flin Flon and played many rounds at Phantom Lake. Since then we have played golf many times in competitions, from Mundi Putter to Senior Putter. I always enjoyed our time on the course and to me tom was a true gentleman both on the course and off. Rest in peace Tom. - Posted by: Mike Mackenzie (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2017

I have known Tom since 1970, the year I worked for Price Waterhouse as a chartered accountant student. Years later when I joined Niakwa golf course in the mid eighties I was around him a lot more and began to appreciate what a thoughtful, classy man he was. Through the hundreds of rounds of golf we played together (mostly as partners in Mundie Putter or Senior Putter competitions) I can honestly say I have never heard him say an ill word about anyone nor have I ever heard him utter one swear word. Even Tom, who was a fantastic golfer, would on occasion shank a shot or top one and his ability to shrug it off always amazed me. He was as fine a man as I have ever known and he will be greatly missed. RIP my friend - Posted by: Grant Foster (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2017
