IVY BENNETT (nee HICKLING) June 20, 1931 - October 18, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother, Granny, GG on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Golden West Centennial Lodge. Remaining to forever cherish Ivy's memory are her sons Randy (Sherrie) and Bob (Sue); daughters Deb (Tim) and Cheryl (Rick); daughter-in-law Laurie (John); and her 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Rose and Herbert; Son Harry; sister Edna and her loving husband of 57 years Alexander "Al" Bennett. On June 20, 1931 Ivy was born in Winnipeg and spent the majority of her life in St. James. She loved reading, crocheting, gardening, theatre, long car rides, and most of all; her family. In her younger years, Ivy enjoyed travelling via rail with her sister Edna for small excursions out west. As well as watching Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas. Her love of theatre continued with her and Edna frequenting Rainbow Stage in the summers. After Edna's passing the tradition of attending Rainbow Stage every year continued on with her daughter Cheryl, and her children and grandchildren. In 2016, Ivy had the pleasure of attending a Legacy Leaf celebration and placed both a leaf for herself and her late sister to remain forever on the Rainbow Stage wall. Ivy has now joined the love of her life, her husband Al. Anyone who met them, loved them. Mr. & Mrs. Bennett, as they were known to the neighbourhood were always seen sitting together on their front porch saying hi to all who passed. Especially the hundreds of students who attended either Golden Gate or Silver Heights Schools and used their driveway as a short cut to and from school. Although she is now at peace and will be joining her husband, her spunk and fun-loving sense of humour will be missed by those who knew her best. In compliance with Ivy's wishes, no Funeral Service will be held. Her family would like to say thank you to the doctors and nurses of Grace Hospital and the wonderful staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for making these last few months of her life comfortable. In lieu of flowers, the family would love for donations to be made to a charity of your choice.
