RUDY BUCHOLZ Peacefully on Thursday, October 19, following 98 years of a happy and fruitful life. He is survived by his beloved son Bob (Pat); beloved grandchildren, Jon (Holly), Lisa (Dwayne), Jessica (Brant) and his step- great-grandsons, Luke and Hayden. Rudy is also survived by his younger brother Max. He was predeceased by his wife Marie and four siblings. Rudy will be forever remembered for his kindness, wit and sporting abilities. In latter years, he excelled at the Sunday afternoon card games with Bob and Pat and took great pleasure in Sundays with his grandchildren. He taught everyone to be skilled cribbage and rummy players. His life-time career as an insurance adjuster developed into a management position at MPIC shortly after its inception and it was from Autopac that he retired some 33 plus years ago. Rudy served in the Second World War, served in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and the Winnipeg Grenadiers. Rudy always supported his grandchildren in their sporting events and taught all three to hunt and fish. "Wendigo" was his pride and joy for the years he and Marie had their summer home. He and Marie enjoyed several warm and active lives after yearly road trips to Texas with his "two guardian angels on his shoulders". Rudy enjoyed life in his own home until age 97 and took care of Marie for seven years when she was disabled. Always a trouper and a caregiver! Husband, father and grandfather/great-grandfather; you will be dearly missed. We look forward to meeting again in heaven. Thank you to the wonderful, caring staff at Pembina Place and Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital and CancerCare at HSC. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to CancerCare or a charity of your choice. The Celebration of Life will take place at Klassen Funeral Home on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. KLASSEN Funeral Home 1897 Henderson Highway, Winnipeg, MB (204) 338 0331 Condolences may be sent to

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Rudy and Marie were second parents to me and my siblings growing up at Wendigo. Rudy was a good sport going through the "ruins" with me. He was a wonderful person and will be deeply missed. Thoughts and prayers for his family. - Posted by: Lill Dusablon (nee Saelens) () on: Oct 25, 2017

  • Fond Memories with Uncle Rudy & Aunt Marie. Lots of love to his wonderful family. Bob, you picked a good one. - Posted by: Irene Luckel (Niece (Irene Jaworski)) on: Oct 24, 2017

  • Our condolences go to the Bucholz family. We were very sorry to learn of Rudy's passing. My association with Rudy goes back to when he was with UAB and I was in private. I had the utmost respect for Rudy and he was very much a "people person". I later joined Rudy at MPI and worked with him at various times. Rudy was a great guy to work with and for. I enjoyed those days a lot. Charles (Chic) Seabrook - Posted by: Charles (Chic) Seabrook (Work associate) on: Oct 23, 2017

  • I remember celebrating many family holidays and many card evenings growing up in Winnipeg until we transferred to Alberta. I remembered his basement full of his animal trophies. He was an amazing fisherman from what I remember when we went to Wendigo. He was the uncle who walked on his hands. Thanks to Facebook I was able to keep up with the family. He will truly be missed. Condolences to all of the family. - Posted by: Janice Bucholz Pelletier (Neice) on: Oct 21, 2017
