JACK (MURPHY) OSTROV Aged 93, passed away peacefully in St. Vincent's Nursing Home, Halifax. Jack grew up and lived in Winnipeg until he was 92. Jack was admired by all for his easygoing manner, loyalty and generosity. He was a very active man who enjoyed Jazz, travelling, curling, golf, and was still ten pin bowling at the age of 90. Jack especially looked forward to his trips to Halifax and Virginia to visit his children and grandchildren. Jack was the son of the late Louis and Eta (Faigen) Ostrov. He was predeceased by his wife Thelma; brother Lou; sister Reva; niece Sharon, and nephew Larry Weinstein. Jack is lovingly remembered by his son Lorne (April); daughter Sherry; grandchildren, Jordan, Samantha and Alex; and great-granddaughter Rozabella. Papa will remain in our hearts forever. Thanks to cousin, Gordon Pullan, niece Shelley (Ostrov) Morris and husband Ernie, Don and Connie Sullivan, Darryl and Jocelyn Silver, John Ginakes and all Jack's "coffee", golf, curling and bowling buddies in Winnipeg. Also thanks to the kind and caring staff from Friendly Care Givers, Shaftesbury Assisted Living, and Jordan and staff at United Unlimited, Iqbal at Bdo, and Karen, Heather and Darcy at RBC. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My sincerest apologies in writing so late, I have just discovered this news. My condolences to Lorne and Sherry, and their families for the passing of their father. I remember the whole family with good memories as a young man growing up and my parents and brother enjoyed the dinners we had at the Inkster Blvd home. Mr. Ostrov, as he was to me, was always smiling, pleasant, and a friendly host. He didn't begrudge my receiving Mrs. Ostrov's incomparable brownies for me to indulge in and on special occasions take home. I have fond memories of those visits facilitated by the Ostrov's family of which Mr. Ostrov clearly was a caring and proud family man. - Posted by: Ralph Pearce (Friend of family) on: Feb 18, 2018
