PENNY LEE ROSE CHARNEY
Date of Passing: Oct 23, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPENNY LEE ROSE CHARNEY Penny passed with peace, grace and calmness on October 23, 2017, with her mother and sister by her side. Predeceased by her dad, Casimir and brother, Rob, both sets of grandparents, Aunt Pat from British Columbia (Mom sure wishes you were here to talk to) and fur babies (Sam and Benji). Survived by her loving mother, Joanne and sister Tracy (Terrance), Aunt June of Winnipeg, Uncle Frank of British Columbia, nephew Ryan (Melissa) of Victoria, and numerous family members throughout British Columbia and California. We may live far apart but always close to heart. As a daughter Penny was kind, caring and loving. From Penny's glorious first breath and cry of life she was a pure joy and made her parents proud from the start and continued to do so throughout her life. Never as a Mother did I want to be a part of your final breath. It comforts me to know you are pain free as you were and will always be a part of me and in my heart. As an older sister Penny endured a lot of fun mixed with some trying days with as she called her bratty sister. Still they had each other's backs right till Penny's final breath. It was Tracy who comforted Penny to let go and be free. Penny still made sure Tracy was taken care of even after passing. Tracy will always be thankful, blessed, proud and lucky to have had her in her life. Penny was the sister every girl wants. Penny was an aunt to three special fur babies Saks, Neiman and Laddie who got to spend a day with her before she passed. They will miss Aunt Penny very much. Penny always put others first no matter the situation, she had a big, unselfish heart. Her life was lived with gratitude and being thankful for all the simple things and beauty that nature had to offer. Penny loved children and dedicated her career life to Maple Leaf School. To all the kids past and present Miss Charney loved each of you and spoke very proudly of you all. Penny enjoyed bringing in treats during the holidays to work to make the kids feel special. Penny loved the arts, music but her greatest passion was volunteering and helping others. In her free-time she liked to dabble at the casino and take many trips to casinos in the United States. She had a knack of being an artisan of various holiday craft projects. Although cooking was not her fave thing, she did have a few good dishes that she would make for the family. Baking skills were exceptionally enjoyed by all who had the opportunity to taste it. A huge thank you to the staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital 5th floor Unit 7, you provided exceptional care not only to Penny but to our family. Hugs to you all. At Penny's request there will be no service. In lieu of donations, we ask you to do a simple act of kindness...Penny would like that. Penny your laughter will be in our thoughts, your kindness in our memories and you will be cherished and live forever in our hearts. When my arms can't reach people who are close to my heart... I always hug them with my prayers.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathy for your loss. I worked alongside Penny for 10 years and in that time we shared many conversations both serious (on how education changed over the years) and comical (anecdotes of her time spent with her students). Penny was the longest serving Educational Assistant in the River East Transcona School Division. Her dedication and passion for her job was evident and will be missed. Penny had many talents one of which was her crafting expertise. I will think of her at Christmas when I hang the beautiful wreath she made. Penny has taught me many things over the years for which I am grateful. - Posted by: Della Burton (Colleague Maple Leaf School) on: Oct 28, 2017
